    Marinating snus

Anybody ever try this? I marinated some general white portion in some Jagermeister and some general extra sterks in some Jim Bean Bourbon.

Tastes damn good I'd say. It perplexes me why there is not more booze flavored snus. But with PACT now, that's probably not a good idea. They'd make it illegal by saying it's got alcohol in it. As long as the FAT PIGS on capital hill have their scotch and cigars and prime rib for thier FAT GUTS, that's all that matters right?

I have never tried Jim Bean but I hear Jim Beam is good though. You can pretty much marinate them in anything you like as I have found, especially liqours, flavored and non flavored.

Did you submerge the portions or just put a few drops onto each and let them sit for a while? I've always been curious what'd happen if you fully submerged one, although it'd likely loose a large amount of nicotine to the solution.

That's what I'm trying to figure out. At first I would completely submerge the portions. Just basically open a can and dump the booze in it and let it sit. Let it sit in the fridge for a couple days and then drain it. But the drainage was dark brown and I was concerned that a lot of the nicotine would come out. But I researched "does alcohol dissolve nicotine" and every other thing related to that "does alcohol neutralize nicotine" and the answer was no. But now what I do is just put enough alcohol in the can to have the snus absorb all the alcohol but not have endless drainage. I let it marinate for a couple days and then set the snus on a napkin and let it sit out on the deck for about an hour. It's been really hot here the past week and 1 hour is good enough to where the snus is not dripping but not dried out. I can't tell if the nic content is lowered by this process as I seem immune to getting a buzz off snus or even dip thanks to smoking which I'm trying to quit at the moment.

Maybe lightly misting the alcohol on the portions with a small spray bottle on both sides and then letting the flavors marry over a period of time would work. I wonder if a white portion would work better since it has less moisture than regular. In a sense you could think of it as having more room in the portion to accept the flavors from the liquor.

Make sure they were not referring just to dissolving in your gut.

I don't know anyone who purposely ingests tabacky. People
generally drink and smoke (or chew or snuff or snus) so any
nicotine that ends up in your stomach would be negligible...
            But in a test-tube??

I figured they were talking about whether if you put alcohol on snus if it would diminish the nicotine level I'm sure many universities have carried out such studies. I personally don't drink. I use to like to drink when I could take a vicodin or 2. Then I'd have energy. I could strip the roof off the house at 3am. But alone without pills alcohol makes me feel useless and tired and weak. I can't stand that feeling. Useless the whole next day. I don't get how people can handle drinking. But I've done enough drugs and drank enough that at 39 I need every little bit of energy I can get. I think my body just has had enough. So snus will have to be it.

Here's the deal. They came out with this stuff called Copenhagen Black. To me, that was the be all end all of dip. Of course as soon as I found out about it, it went off the fvcking market. But I really don't want to be dippin all the time. Then, I finally find a snus flavor I really like a lot, claq qui and what happens? GONE. So fvck it. I'll make my own flavor.

I'm starting to re-flavor some of my snus but I'm still in the process of getting extracts (I just got some coffee extract from WholePaycheck that I'll be trying soon). I've done Mocca Mint with Pure Vanilla Extract added and that didn't come out half-bad -- gotta play with the recipe some more. Stay away from oil-based extracts since they might go rancid if you don't keep your self-flavored snus refrigerated most of the time (esp in hot weather).

As for alcohol, I'm gonna try spritzing some portions and Ziploc-vac them a few days to see what happens (maybe this weekend).

I especially gotta see what I can do with the snus I only find so-so; in the quest to stay ahead of PACT I ended up with some that I would never order again!

For those of us who are experimenting with SnusX, this is a very interesting thread. Thanks for the info, guys. I mentioned something in my most recent blog post about trying real bourbon instead of bourbon flavoring in a future batch. Good to know you've had good results with using the real thing.

Yep, General never tasted so good. Real Bourbon. The way I figure it that the flavoring they sell you is probably a tiny bottle right? I found what works best is using a dropper. Like one of those extract droppers in a bottle of st. johns wort or some other herbal medicine. One dropper per pouch and it soaks up nice. When I filled the whole can with bourbon the first time and drained it, it was black and I think a lot of the flavor of the snus came out with that. So the dropper method works best. If it's overly soaked, let it sit in the sun for like 1/2 hour and you have a nice semi dry portion like the way they come usually.

Now if I could find a way to get more snus. I'm in the RESTRICTED zone.

                      Oh and F*** OBAMA

A way to get snus in MA will become apparent in time. Can you get General around? I'm sure you can in Boston. I know they have it at the Owl Shop in Worcester too. I bet they're just over five bucks which wouldn't be totally cost prohibitive, but I wouldn't want to have to live on General alone. I am not sure snus would be worth it to me if that were the only one I could get. I know many would disagree and that I would at least try to get along with them but I'd certainly use less snus. I've been sampling different dips again and I don't think that I could go back to that stuff either. Maybe I'd just use it in the winter/spring and snuff in the summer/fall. This idea of adding liquid/flavor to General sounds interesting though.

General is the only one I like. All the different Generals and onyx. Just not the mint flavor. I've tried all the other snus. ALL OF IT. I've spent over probably 1k in the past year on snus. I have everything, except the one flavor I do like "General" I'm running low on. I wasted a lot of money on LOS snus too, which was a mistake. I should have ordered portions instead.

Owl shop has it? That's surprising. Whenever I call a place they have never heard of what I'm looking for. Called a place in CT and they never heard of snus. I'll get it wherever I have to. I'd rather pay $8 a can than give UPS any of my money too. I fvcking hate UPS. So if I have to bend over and have a shop get it I will. Not that ordering is an option but no way, even if I could order through Northerner am I giving UPS $30 in shipping money and then the hassle of an ID. It's snus, not fvcking crack. When will these fvckheads understand? No amount of education, doesn't matter how big the warning is. You could make the whole can a warning and people will line up in droves to get it. Who are these assholes? I'd like to have them all chained in my basement to the wall.

Yeah, I've been using some of Faerie's Finest's flavors with SnusX, and so has danielan. The quality is decent, except for the boozy flavors. They're a good value, too. $3.99 for a two ounce plastic bottle, or 4 bottles for $13.99. Two fluid ounces of extract will flavor a lot of portions.
