Uses for empty snus tins

I like Prismaster's idea - I think I see your vision, and it would be in the bar area in my house . I would have to build a tap into it to serve my homebrew! Maybe put a kegerator under it.

I was thinking build a square or circular top (kinda like a box but only 3/4" deep - the height of a snus tin), then filling the box with snus cans and putting a sheet of acrylic on top - maybe around 1/4". Circle would obviously be a little harder, but not impossible. It'd probably be about 3ft in diameter and about 4 or so feet off the floor (like a standard bar table that you stand at). It would take a bit of work, but probably wouldn't be too hard or expensive. Personally I'd add LEDs in between the snus cans controlled by some microcontroller just to add some flair .

I throw out the empties. I prefer the full tins. Don't want to grab an empty by mistake. That would ruin the day.

I was thinking of trying to save up all my tins and doing something like placing them in top of a little table and placing glass over it. It would be a little more elaborate than that, but you get the idea at least. I got a good idea in my head, but just do not feel like explaining it all, but basically it would be like a display under a glass top table. Maybe try to get a good assortment of tins in there.

Thought maybe I'd make myself one and see if anyone on e-bay will buy them. I've also seen this done with Altoids Tins, so why not snus!

That survival kit thing is actually a great idea. I bet it could be done. If I can fit a gram of pot, a booklet of Bambu paper (the square box... others won't fit in the can), a booklet of crutches, a small poking rod, and matches inside of a L.S. can, surely the survival kit can be done.

Seriously though, those cans are quite spacious. You'd be surprised at all the stuff they can hold.

That's actually a great idea Lanci, I especially like your idea of polishing the bottom of the tin to make a mirror. You could use it for shaving while camping too (if you worry about that, I hardly shave anyway). I may throw a couple of tins in my tackle box, they'd be good for carrying some hooks, and also to put those annoying little pieces of line that you always end up with (I always carry them out with me; gotta' respect da aina).

...sorry to double post- I had been thinking of using them to make a survival kit type thing (a la survivorman) with some matches, fish hook, line, etc. I was also thinking of polishing the underside of a lucky tin into a signaling mirror.

I don't have any wise uses for the empty cans, I just store all of them in the top drawer of my desk. So far it's almost full but there's still some space for a liquor bottle. When I'm out of snus (and that happens a lot, as matter fact, right now) I like to just look at those empty cans that I once had great time with. Nostalgic. :lol:

I use an empty Lucky Strike original portion tin to store my black 3mm Icetool. I keep it in there because I don't use it as often as my 3mm stainless steel.

I use a Lucky Strike white portion tin to keep some pot, pipe screens, cardboard crutches, etc. in when I'm out and about. These tins seem to have a very tight seal, as I've never had a problem with my herbs going dry and crispy while on an outing. Sometimes I use an empty Granit Maxi tin for the same purpose. They both work equally well, but the Lucky Strike can is a thing of beauty and so it often wins against the Granit tin.

Other than that, there's a plastic bag that I keep in my bedroom closet. I throw all of my empty tins in there. I haven't thrown any out. One day I'll do something with them. What, I'm not exactly sure, but it'll happen one day. Maybe.

Yeah, a bit Dr. Seuss-y, but my question is do any of you have any interesting uses for empty tins of snus? I use the metal cans (Lucky Strike, Offroad) for storing paperclips and thumbtacks. My wife has stolen some of them from the recylcing bin for random other storage uses as well.
