NEW Olde Viking flavor: Original

I've gone through almost 2 cans of this and I have to say - it's really good. It's growing on me.

Well, I do want to thank Gajane for sending me this, I really appreciate it.
Yes, I got it yesterday. Just had my 1st one right now. I don't mind the can, I didn't mind it when Tourney used them. Though the black looks cool enough. First impression, smell was ok, portion material is soft. I had a small moment of heartburn there, and some extra fluid in my mouth which I spit in my trash, but that seems to have away. I am having this with some coffee, 1st snus of the day. Now this is 1st time with it, so my thoughts may change, I will say I don't like it like I like my fave snus'. My tastes have changed in time. Currently my fave snus is Phantom. What this most reminds me of is Gustavus OP. I think I am getting a little throat burn and sting, I think I'm feeling the nic right now. Seems a bit strong really. I'll use a few more portion before I give an official review. It's not bad though.

I'm really getting to like this, as much as most any portion besides Flader, anyway. A delicious, slightly sweet, fairly junipery snus.

I did not get the juniper notes until half the can was gone. That is what seems slightly sweet.

My tastebuds are ultra sensitive to juniper for some reason. If it's there, I notice immediately.

Just put in an Olde Viking Original, along with diet cola. This snus is not bad, but when I 1st tried it, I felt I didn't like it, but it gets better each time. I also like the black hockey puck can, and the label design is OK. It does say Limited Edition, so I wonder what that means? I do think it would hard for a new snus comapny break through, with so many more established brands out there. Some seem to have an aversion that Olde Viking is not pasturized, and the can. Snus seems like a limited market already. I do know Gajane also "makes" Oden's, but I must say, I like Oden's Classic Original Portion more than this, but like I said before, this reminds me of Gustavus.

It could be methinks. Whenever I drink gin I get absolutely horrible heartburn.

I don't get any sweetness, and I don't get heartburn or the need to spit now, after a few portions have been had. I thought also it might be the fermentation, so anyway, this snus has gotten better with use. I think it's good, I don't like it more than my faves, but it's OK. Still reminds me a bit of Gustavus.

Goddamnit!! I received my order yesterday from Getsnus/Northerner which was supposed to include a can of Olde Viking Original and I got the ginger and lime flavor. Northerner's pretty good about this sort of thing and hopefully they'll get a can out to me soon.

To me the ginger lime tastes similar to 01. I dont get any ginger or lime just wet stick flavor.

I was a bit more harsh on my last review of this one...



I don't like the can. However, it does look cooler with the metallic orange paint on it than the silver. That helps a little. No catch lid is a downer, in my book. When you open up the can, the aroma is INCREDIBLY strong. It jumps out at you. It's very sweet, I can smell hints of lime, and if I'm really reaching maybe a little ginger. But the lime is the prevalent force in the aroma. The portions are very moist, as you can tell from the picture, I want to say it's more than 55% moisture from using them, because they drip quite quick after putting them in. The portions are comfortable in the lip, a little sting at first but nothing too major. As with the aroma, the taste that comes through first is a bitter lime taste accompanied by a little salt. The longer you keep the portion in, the more bitter the lime gets. To be honest, I don't pick up much ginger. Maybe a speck or two in there, but nothing that would honestly even make me want to put Ginger in the product description, because I really have to search for it to be able to pick it up. The lime flavor is the strongest flavor in this snus, and ginger isn't even present as a hint, it's more like a needle in a haystack. After about 30 minutes it's just too bitter and I have to throw it out.

Final thoughts? Well, usually when I write a review I go through a can or two before I can offer any opinions. To be honest, I went through half a can of this stuff (and that was pushing it) and could not bring myself to do any more. I took one for the team, to say the least. So, as official Guinea Pig of the Snus World, I can say that I don't like this stuff, same as the last offering from Olde Viking. Maybe the mysterious Adrian or the Men in Black who run Gajane will reach out with some information or some intel about this stuff, because I don't know who they're testing this on before it goes to market, my opinion is it must be the same people who said Marlboro "snus" and Camel "SNUS" were good.

I wasn't as nice on this review, or the spearmint review, which is why I was surprised I like Olde Viking Original so much.
