Can't figure out how they're calculated.

i think you get more points if you start a thread. and also it seems more points for more words in the post.

when that dude was really angry at northerner recently, he had over a 100 points with just 12 posts.

I asked this in a thread awhile back with similar results. RE: nothing.
I also post on a forum called Digitalpress. It's a video game forum and they once had a points system that let you buy virtual swag. The higher quality post you had the more "money" you got. You could buy virtual rare games. It was fun, but completely pointless.

It's not a rating system.

Points are assigned based on some formula related to your posts - i.e. frequency, not quality.

I'm not entirely sure we aren't encouraging the wrong behavior.
