Can Portions be torn apart to bake it loose as a test? Or is the grind to fine?

Also clear me up on what "run" means. I assume that when the snus gets away from you and flow through out the mouth.

I believe the snus inside the bags is the same as loose, but not sure. As for "run," that is when the snus starts releasing lots of juice, usually after 30 minutes to an hour. To me, that is a sign that it is time to get rid of it.

You'll probably find that the snus inside portions doesn't bake as well as proper loose snus, but if you have fresh regular portions (not white portions) it should be reasonably do-able.

Oh, Craig and I had a discussion about that some time ago as we both have tried to shape a pris of portion-snus. Now, I can't really find the thread, but our conclusion was that there IS a difference - at least in the moist department. I remember ripping a white portion Rapé, but even with my trusty Icetool it was an almost impossible task to shape it up. Maybe some original portions would work ... like General fx.

And about the running snus. Well, I don't mind a little juice at all ... I actually quite like when I can squeeze even more out!

Snus from a portion pouch holds together kinda like talcum powder.

originaly portions where made from the not so good tobaco they
              had left after making loose.
I'm not shure how they are doing it now, but I don't think it's
that lesser in quality from the loose stuff.

But still, it will probably be too dry to bake.

Welp, I just tore open a portion of GR2 and all I have to show for it is a brown palm. It is much to dry to bake. Even adding water just made a bigger mess. Don't waste your snus, don't do this.

I tried it with Kronan regular portions yesterday. I had ripped open two portions and got all the tobacco out...this was after I had been using them for a while (a bit of a slimy, nasty endeavor) but it formed up fine (probably because it was used a little already)...the amount of 2 portions is about a third of what I normally use for a loose pris. It tasted about the same as loose i think, it's been a while since i had the kronan loose.

it's a shame they don't make GR#2 in loose. i was thinking about trying the loose-making of it and sad to hear it doesn't work well at all.

Whatever you do, DONT do it with skruf tranbar. It will burn the living hell out of your gums. Also, they are a bit drier than loose. Not really worth it.
