Well don't forget. I'm only a part time lösser. Usually only do a prilla or two a day. I know how my good o'le copenhagen would turn to shit after the rare times I made a tin last 3 or 4 days in and out of the pocket/fridge. Not wanting to chance this with loose snoose. :P

Not even possible. I like a variety with my Los like I do with my portions. So I have 3 cans open and grab what I am in the mood for at night (The only time I can los). They are plenty moist still. But yep, no "just one can open" for me. I like Ettan with my coffee, I like Thunder after dinner, I like a pris of Grov as soon as I get home from work, so yea, only one can open at a time just wont do.Originally posted by snusjusWhen using los, try to use it as quickly as possible. Never have more than one can of los opened at a time, since the other cans will dry out long before you can finish them.

From what you have described you should be fine moisture wise.
That said let me ask one question that may seem silly at first. Were you holding the tool by the right end? Prismasters are easy to get turned around and you certainly would not be the first this has happened to.
Go back and try it again. This time:
-Double check that you’ve got the plunger facing the right way,
-Insert the tool and while keeping you thumb on the little slide, press down hard in the can (repeat this step a few times)
-Remove the Pmaster and hold the tobacco end securely against your thumb
-Push the slide outwards hard like you are trying to eject the pris (you should actually see a little juice on the thumb that is blocking the end of the tool).
-Pop the pris out and enjoy.
One more thing: I think it will help to learn to hand bake and to pinch and toss (i.e. pinch, compress, knock off the excess and put her in). The reason is- between these two techniques and a tool you should be able to handle any varying degree of moisture, grind, and need.
Hope this helps

Hey, thanx for the tips. I did not have the prismaster backwards. I always make sure, I even asked here before I ever used it why the open end on one end, and closed on the other. So I am always looking for that. And the other thing is, that night, I inserted them the same way I have done since the 1st one, at an angle and everything. So I do not know what went wrong. But I moved on and hand baked last night.Originally posted by SnusdogFrom what you have described you should be fine moisture wise.

I did not try to make a work of art, I don't even know if it was a recognizable shape, I just formed some los with my fingers on one hand, and the palm of my other hand, till it looked firm and secure, than popped it in. Did 2 pris' last night, and was successful both times. So I guess I am a hand baker now, and I will get better as time goes by. I did like controlling how big or small the pris was, so thats an advantage.

Badaxe,
Great question! Thanks for posting it. I went back to the Dipper’s Guide and found that we really did not have much on Prismasters or the pinch and toss method.
Thus, I elaborated a bit on what I posted here and put it up over at the Guide. You can check out the revised and expanded version on page 7 of said thread.
