Hm, maybe I can at least get them to cut back on the cigs. I'll let everyone know how I do. I'm hoping my 20 something age group will be open to new things, although some might already be set in thier ways.

Btw I'm definately getting a viking funeral that would be epic. I wonder if my future children will be open to lighting me on fire in the middle of a pond or something. Isn't it true you put possesions in the boat or am I thinking of something else. With all the electronics I own there will be a hell of a fireworks show rofl.

Here's a funeral. NSFW, and not for the squeamish...

When I think back I am pretty sure half the reason I didn't finish college was that I couldn't go two hours without a cigarette (this may also be why I failed as an an olympic swimmer and as a fireworks maker). I think if I had snus back then I might have stuck it out though. or maybe not...

What is it with college kids and starting revolutions

But here in the Army it's pretty much the same with the anti-smoking freaks trying to force everybody else into being just like them. They've even began offering promotion points for smoking cessation!
I quit back in November with snus. There was this camel snus promotion on the back of my new pack of cigarettes and a googled "snus" and ended up going straight for the swedish stuff first without trying out any of the american knockoffs.
I haven't been trying to get people to try snus because I know it won't catch on, though I know word has been getting around. A month ago a dipper lost his can and asked me if I had any of "that swedish shit" and since then a few people have asked to try it.

I am not sure. I know that I wouldn't advertise it to anyone not currently using tobacco products. I got hooked on snus by accident, never smoked or dipped prior, and now I love it. But I am not gonna try to hand it out to others that are in my situation. It is a much better alternative that is for sure. My husband is quiting smoking now w/ Chantix and uses snus every once in a while.

              Good luck educating people.
If you are motivated, you should consider making two fliers... one for the smokers and one for the anti tobacco fascists.

Yes I read somewhere that cig prices went up for the army and they were even possibly considering banning smoking. That really bursts my bubble, you guys are out there busting your asses and risking your life in some cases and they wanna take away your smokes! I'm glad they got shut down on that one. :x Just realized I spelled revolution wrong in my original post... comon college make me smarter...lol. Oh ya and congrats on quitting.

Fliers, eh. And putting your email address on them sounds like an invitation to constant inbox interruptions from your concerned friends the anti-tobacco whackos.

However, I think college-age smokers might cotton to snus more easily than others -- it's different, maybe hip, confusing to possibly-datable whackos who'd otherwise automatically put themselves off-limits, and all the bars are adopting no-smoking policies these days. Introduce them to snus and let the slow, smooth transition to snusing take place, one ninety-minute class at a time. One big problem is the usual lack of access to anything but Camel in the convenience shops. Another problem is the fact that the nic hit is more immediate with cigs. A smoker pops in a proffered portion of snus and it's like -- where's my drug rush?

I'm a fairly new snusser still in the proselytizing stage myself. So far, I've got two flat refusals to try a sample, a 'no, yuk, drip,' a 'no, not really for me,' a 'too strong for me, but I know somebody who might be interested in that sample pack' from a light smoker, two 'I think I'd use this if I was ever really interested in quitting cigarettes,' and one maybe-convert (too soon to tell, but she's a heavy smoker motivated to quit and is now into her second can of General White, available at her tobacconist where "there's a snus display... and other stuff... to smoke.")

The funny thing is, my possible convert was at first a flat refuser. I then waited until she was two hours into a teleconference and plopped a can of 01 down in front of her. Gobble, gobble, "I think you've just made a convert out of me."

It didn't exactly feel like seduction, but at my age I'll take satisfaction in any little such conquests I can get.

I wouldn't use my personal or college email address, I may either create a new one with a snus related name or something lol.

I had a pretty humorous response to an offering of snus today. I say 'hey man I know you smoke so would you want to try this tobbaco product called snus, its from sweden'. He says 'That looks like a teabag to me... (awkward pause)... I say, 'well it kindof is a teabag it just has tobacco in it and you put it under your upper lip. He says, ' so does this give you a good buzz'. I say, 'well there is more powerful snus out there but the one i'm using right now isn't too strong'. Then after a little more information he pops it in and he says,' hmm tastes good for a teabag....' in a very serious tone.  Now all the rest of class I was thinking wtf how does this guy know what a teabag tastes like. Anyway I got a good laugh.

I think your success will depend in part on where you are. Home in NY, I've had a couple friends who've tried it, but the drip was too much for them. Up in Maine, I had plenty of dippers who would swing by every so often and ask for a portion. Still, people are set in their ways, and the gas station at the end of the block wins out for a lot of people over waiting a week or two for the post to come.

                        Yeah, what he said!

And I'd be more than happy to help you think up some good content for the latter one.
