    College Life and Snus

I'm currently in my third year at a state college and its interesting to see whats going on around campus tobacco wise. About a fourth to half my friends smoke and I know of one kid who dips and smokes. They don't seperate the smokers from non smokers anymore since there are no smoking floors or smoking indoors. Currently there is a band of anti smoking wackos who are trying to forbid smoking within 20 yards or so from a building but I believe they didn't get enough support as of now.

How does this relate to snus you might ask? Well I have started to inform my roomates/floormates about snus and gotten a few of them to try it as opposed to smoking (I wouldn't give a non-smoker snus in most cases). Now most of them think its a great idea, and would save them the trouble of taking smoke breaks in classes and such. But the problem is that most of them just don't seem to get that its not dip(here in the northeast dip isn't used as often as other places in the U.S. as far as I know).

Well anyway how do you guys/girls think I should procced, I'm interested in starting a tobacco revoloution! Lol the only problem with this is the fact that its not readily avaliable around here for the most part but in future years I think it will be. Sorry for the huge post just I got a bit excited...

I have actually had to print out info because people around here won't listen to the facts.

    Wackadoo's.

Anyway, Snus will makes it's way to being popular as the times go by. Just wait and see.

Yeah I should print out flyers and put them up around campus and put my email address on it in case they want more info. I don't know if thats a great idea or a horrible one... lol not sure if you need permision to put up flyers but I don't think so.

I am not sure. I know that I wouldn't advertise it to anyone not currently using tobacco products. I got hooked on snus by accident, never smoked or dipped prior, and now I love it. But I am not gonna try to hand it out to others that are in my situation. It is a much better alternative that is for sure. My husband is quiting smoking now w/ Chantix and uses snus every once in a while.

        Good luck educating people.

Yeah maybe I should put something like 'do you smoke? If so try snus...' etc etc. Usually people get paid to do this kind of advertising but I'd be happy just having my friends and peers healthier.

I wish I knew about snus when I was in college. May have helped. I remember sitting through lectures and couldn't wait for a cigarette.

I tried to quit using snus for one day and freaked out. I can't imagine smoking and not getting my fix.

The only thing I can compare the way I felt the day w/o snus was not having coffee all day. I didn't get a headache but this weird tingle in the front of my forehead. And I couldn't concentrate, AT ALL.

Damicom3, most new snusers here seem to go through aperiod where they try and evangelize it to all their friends. You will read that it just almost nver works. Other folks don't care, even when it is obvious how it will help them.

I long ago just gave up on that idea. People see me use snus, if they are interested enough, they will ask. But in 3 years, I have never converted a single person. I just don't care to try any more.

That's my experience as well. I've known some adventurous tobacco users like myself, and they'd try anything tobacco related for the experience, but I think we're in the minority.

totally agree with sage and LX. I haven't converted a single person. But I have tried. Its really odd how they will light up a smoke and listen to what you have to say but when you say "Here, have a few to try out". They always say no. I guess they prefer to die from lung cancer.

I'll tell ya what......if, by chance, snus does cause cancer I would prefer the snus cancer over the smoking cancer anyday. I think.

For me it really doesn't matter at this point. I'm going to die from heart related problems. Thats if I don't get hit by a bus first.
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

Make sure you leave all your snus to me. Go ahead and add that into your will.

I don't know, Chad. Would you be able to treasure PP's Coffee & Vanilla stash as much as he does? Or the two cans that are probably left of it since I last saw that picture? Not saying I could do it, but I think his snus should be left to someone will a similar palate.

That way, someone, somewhere 10 years after he's died will be able to put in the last Coffee & Vanilla portion on Earth and say, "PP, you magnificent bastard, you. What taste!"

Although personally I vote PP gets a viking funeral. Push his body off on Lake Michigan in a kickass boat, and some of the forum vets launch flaming arrows into it. Then we run. Damn federal government, with their police and laws about burning boats.
