Happy New Year and an Introduction

Hello y'all! I've been lurking a while and decided to drop in and introduce myself. I dipped Copenhagen snuff for over twenty years. I began trying less expensive brands (timber wolf/ grizz snuff) a few months back, and, while researching I came across Swedish Snus. Tried the Camel stuff and hated it (tasted like candy), then ordered some real Swedish Snus online and have loved it!

I've tried a few different brands so far but at this point I've settled with the Lab Series 0102 (mainly 02). Although I did not have any intention of quitting American moist snuff, I've only had a few dips since using Swedish Snus. I must say that the vitamin N delivery from Snus is better than dip IMO.

At some point I plan on trying loose snus as a way to pay homage to the great Scandanavian Snus gods but probably will not use it regularly. I prefer the ease of using portions. I travel for my job and portions make for a better travel companion than loose snuff or snus. When I dipped I could never use pouches, but snus has changed that for me.

I look forward to reading more of your comments and hope to add some input along the way.

    Happy New Year!

          Welcome APX.

I used to dip the cope as part of my ditching cigarettes plan, and found snus much the same way you did. There are a lot of great choices out there flavor wise these days. I will occasionally buy a can of cope before a camping trip just for the sake of it, and I never even finish it. The appeal is just not there for me any more.

            Thanks for the welcome.

Monkey: I'm certain I will like loose snus but I do like the portions for convience sake. Since I've been snusing I've attended a very long corporate meeting where snus was VERY convienent. I also attended the Cowboys/Saints game in the Superdome where it was nice to get the nic fix without having to take a pinch/pris while jumping with joy watching the Cowboys score touchdowns . Over the next couple of months I will definitely try some loose though!

Welcome and I also said goodbye to a 30yr Copenhagen snuff routine by thankfully finding snus about 3 1/2 months ago. At first the only two that really satisfied me where Oden's ES Original & Skruf Stark. Now my tastes have broadened a bit and I'm still trying out different brands. I have absolutely no desire for a 'dip' of Copenhagen and would have never believed I would ever be able to say that.

Although initially I'm still spending close to the equivalent on snus as my former 1 can a day cope habit, that is mainly because I'm continually ordering snus I haven't tried yet and stocking up the fridge. I can easily say I can get about 3 to 4 days out of a can of snus as compared to dip which has been another nice change along with healthier gums and the ditching of spit cups.

Not to hijack the thread but I also wanted to say hello. Long time lurker to this site and thought it was time to register and introduce myself.

As a Canadian living in a land that heavily taxes all things tobacco its tough to support this hobby/habit/craving?! Thankfully this is one instance where I am glad my inlaws visit me often as they live in San Diego and they act as my drug mules.

So again hello to everybody and I wish you all a happy New Year.

I just now bought my 1st ever can of Copenhagen Snuff and stuck a pinch in. It's not bad at all.

Welcome APX glad you decided to chime in. If you want to try Loose Snus may I suggest a can of General lös or Ettan lös first.

Hi heapbag! Good to see another lurker coming out

N0mad: I've got both of those on my list when I do try loose. Also will try Grov and Roda as well.

Let me know how Roda is when you get it, I am on the fence about trying it.

Welcome to the world of SNUS.

I have the same story as many others though I'm years into my snusing now. I was never one for message boards until I met the cool people at Snuffhouse.org. I joined this board a few months ago.

@ lofat - I too get a can of dip before a camping trip, or sometimes a long drive but it takes forever to go though it. Usually it's Skoal straight but Cope rocks too. IMO nothing beats snus. Nothing.

...About Grov being the best girl...she's the QUEEN...no, the GODDESS of snus!
