The round used was a Swedish 9x19mm m/39b with a heavy steel jacket and a tombac coating. Having used the round in question when I still wore green I was just a bit sceptical.

So I went up to those marketers on the third floor and asked them if this was (another) marketing trick or if it really worked. They showed me the can in question, the reformed round and other cans that had been subjected to...well, shall we say higher calibers. The can stopped the 39b though, quite impressive.

    Info on the 39b: http://www.amkat.se/index.php?Env=Am...Menu_Name=Ball

(39b is the fourth round from the top)

PS: The can was heavier than I would have thought, the 2mm alloy must be quite different from normal alu alloy (which in my opinion has nothing to do on any armoured carier). Making an armoured suit of this alloy would prolly be very expensive, not to mention being an absolute dog to wear...

2 mm of alluminum alloy? Lol, that wouldn't stop a .22.

Not saying it's not possible, as even protective eyewear can stop a 9 mil round, but the odds of this can being bulletproof is pretty low.

Then again, there's only one way to find out

      EDIT: @ 903Lew

Cop killer rounds? lol no there is just no way 2 mm of aluminum could do that without being reinforced by something else.

I find that really hard to believe. Even with a weak round I just couldn't see this thing stopping it dead on unless you hit it at the right angle in the right spot. Maybe cause the bullet to ricochet if you hit it at an angle but I would put my last can of snus on it that if I tied this thing to a stick and launched a round through it it wouldn't stop it.

Wow now I really want one these.

Jonathon, i'm using my jedi mind trick on you *waves hand* I will win that contest...

If we need to bullet proof our snus we have some serious issues in the loving snus department.

Lol that would cost a small fortune but would be worth it. It would be extremely bulky and not very breathable though i would imagine. Sometimes you get so hot from wearing all your gear that you would just rather risk getting shot lol

I'll spend the extra cash only if it can stop a 50 cal or 30mm round lol.

lol, irony is a bitch but it is very real. A lot of our guys do that same thing, take out one or more of the plates to reduce weight and increase airflow. But if you get shot, not only did you get shot but now you are in trouble with top as well.

There was this one dude in my unit that had heat rash on his back (which is the most annoying thing on the planet) and he just went crazy one day from it and refused to wear his IBA or any of his gear other than his ACU's. He ended up clearing an entire building (against orders) without waiting for anyone else all by himself without any armor and somehow didn't get shot. Once back state-side he was transfered to another unit because no one in ours wanted to deal with his crazy PTSD ass but he was eventually discharged because his PTSD was just to extreme. All he talked about all day was how he wanted to kill people, and not specificly insurgents but just people in general, so i'm pretty sure he's in jail by now.

Long story short, heat rash is a bitch. What was this thread about again?

903Lew showed us bullets but nothing about a can actually being shot at with whatever grade/caliber/class bullet and it stopping.

I'm definitely not calling bullshit on it. But I figured the company would be tickled to death about showing off a bulletproof snus can, rather than slapping bulletproof on a snus can without any actual proof. YOUR LEAVING CURIOSITY TO US. THAT'S BAD BECAUSE SOME DIP**** IS GOING TO SHOOT THEMSELVES THINKING THE SNUS CAN WILL STOP IT. Never mind I'll just sue now and beat the heat.

Lol if we order all 800 (or was it 600?) of these cans and make them into armor plates, then all snuson members get together and have a shooting contest with them (while wearing them), we could probably get a pretty decent sized class action lawsuit against them. no money required, but lifetime supply of snus.

I don't give a crap about getting one of those tins. But I would love to use one for a target.
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.
