    Snus and what we eat

Do you think what you eat regularly affects the way snus tastes to you? My example is I eat salted sunflower seeds all the time, and haven't ever really tasted the salt in snus.

I eat a low salt diet, as I grew up in a house where salt was considered evil. I only use non iodized kosher salt or sea salt when I cook and rarely eat out. I do not often eat salty snacks.

When i started snussing, I did not taste the salt as an overwhelming ingredient. Salt, used properly (as it is in most snus) is a flavor enhancer and i do not find the salt in snus to be obtrusive. It is part of the flavor profile and I appreciate what it is and, how the actual "saltiness" is an integral flavor component.

It helped that I read on here about how salty snus was before I tried any so I was prepared and it was not as salty as I had expected. If I hadn't been prepared, I would have most likely had an issue with the salt. I also started with a can of los and then opened the portions second, and i find los to be less "salty". Kinda like how after reading about how Elixyr PE tastes like ass and, when you get it, it tastes more like clean ass as opposed to dirty, sweaty ass.

Ok Mike.....I can just imagine that a dirty, sweaty ass tastes like crap, literally, but can you tell me what a clean ass tastes like? I like a piece of ass just like anybody else does but not to eat. help me out here.

It's one of those things you have to experience to understand, like the salt in snus. Think of the tied end of a warmed balloon with a hint of herbal soap and a slight musty overtone...

I'm not sure what the difference is with Kosher salt, other than it's approved by a Rabbinical order.

Kosher salt is a large crystal salt that has no added ingredients. It has a clean salt taste and is great as a flavor enhancer.
Iodized table salt is a fine crystal salt and also contains (less than 1 %)calcium silicate as an anti caking agent, dextrose and potassium iodide.
Taste them side by side (like 1/32 of a teaspoon) and you will see the difference.
I HATE the taste of iodized table salt and is easy to horribly over salt your food with.
Kosher just means that the production was overseen by a Rabbi (teacher) to ensure it does not contain any items that are not part of the diet followed by those of the Jewish faith (bugs, pork, shellfish or ingresients derived from milk, as it is forbidden to mix dairy and meat, etc) and the food is made within G-d's rules and in his eyes.
Sea salt can be minerally depending what kind it is... not always my favorite but has it's place.
