I've been using grovsnus loose the past couple of days. I love it! Great stuff. Way better than the portions i think.

I quite enjoy Grovsnus. I think "grov" means long cut in Swedish. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I managed to score four tins of Grovsnus maxi portions from an American retailer, skoal.net and I'm looking forward to trying them out.

It's literally translated as "rough"or "harsh" but I don't know about "long cut", might very well be that also. A Swede could maybe help us here a little bit.

no, grov means harsh or rough as you say.
That means that it is roughly grounded.

snus is not cut, it is grounded to single particals.

If you compare RL and Grovsnus, you will see how the particles are way smaller and finer grounded in RL. This because SM grounds the tobacco into three types, rough, middle and fine snusmeal, according to their homepage.

Swedish snus is not cut, but grounded. Kardus, however is cut.

The loose is now officially my favorite snus. I don't know why, but I think it's delicious.. straight tobacco taste and just yummy!

I find grovsnus to taste a lot like ettan in the straight tobacco department, but I can taste an added sort of tang/sourness to it. It sort of reminds me of something they have in Copenhagen, perhaps even Skoal straight.
I'm not a big fan of that, but it's not bad either. However, I don't like how it feels rather rough on the gums.
I've only had it twice, and it hasn't impressed me much so far. Maybe when my cold goes away it will taste better.

My thoughts, exactly. Its good, basic tobacco taste. My favourite snus too. Can anyone recommend something that tastes similar than Grov?

I have heard LD Gold compared to Ettan, but lately I find it somewhat similar to Grov. It has the smoky flavor, it is coarser grain, juicy, and overall quite nice.

No doubt! Those were really nice! <sniff!> It seems the only maxis still available are General (never tried), Granit (quite large!), and Gustavus (not bad).

I thought the diplomat portions were similar in flavor but much more subtle than the Grov portions. I think Grov is better though.
