Sage it seems we keep running this same test with the same equipment (i.e. Prima). Knowing your taste profile for portions, might I suggest trying this with a different brand- something like Phantom Brown or Phantom classic?

You shouldn't have ditched your tin of Gotland Gul. That has one of the most powerful flavors of the standard snuses, and would be a good introduction for someone who doesn't feel they get enough flavor from lös.

I'm such a newbie, but even I know this: the pris *can* be played with. It just demands subtlety--and practice. Try the tongue-and-puff at first, before you move on to such advanced techniques as the side switch or the "flip and stick"

Don't make the grim determination for the pris to stay together the be-all-end-all. Eventually it's going to deteriorate, so what, there's more lös where that came from.

I second that. Try a different snus and different cut. Phantoms coarse grind and superior holding power would work well with your need to play around with your snus. The grind makes it more forgiving, and less mud texture. Also incredibly taste. Soon you'll be hillbillying it, flavor country!

Well said, Mojo! And the others that pointed this out. I totally work the pris. It takes practice but that is all. Use a few hundred or thousand prillas, and it just happens.

Only reason I have these is to help someone else out in the exchange. He wanted portions I had, so I thought why not. Otherwise, i am probably two months away at least from ordering any snus.

And flavors are NOT my issue with los. It all comes down to one thing really for me. Just, through now, at least, I just prefer the feeling of portions in my mouth. And yes, I do know I can play some with a pris. but I abuse portions, just no way I could ever replicate that with los.

But, I did something about 20 minutes ago. Said hell with baking, grabbed a pinch and just threw it up in my lip. Very easy, my tounge helped push it where it needed to go. ANd I must say, this has probably been my most enjoyable "pris" ever. Just feels the best of any los I have evr had in my mouth.

So more Hillbilly. I am gonna make sure I use los at least 3 -4 times a day. Gonna just try and keep doing it for a while, see if the habit can stick.

Yeah, but I could tell that way three wasn't gonna be much different than way 2.

So Hilbilly, I liked!! Really my most pleasant los experience ever. Funny thing, I went to get rid of what I had and it was almost all gone already.

So will keep playing this wy. Will do some more hand baking too. Hell, I have the los out, gotta use the icetool at least once too. :wink:

I did that with a bit of Röda Lacket last night and it was wonderful. In fact, now that I think of it, did it with some Prima Fint yesterday or so also. It really does help bring out the flavor of these. On the other hand, I grabbed a big old hunk of Skruf Stark and hillbillied that yesterday, and that was a very flavorful mistake

I've got to remember to start small and work my way up.

In my own mind, I've begun differentiating between "hillbilly" (taking a pretty big, chaotic gob) and "pinch" (a smaller amount somewhat "baked" in the can by the fingertips).

You've got me wanting some Prima now. Here we go

I say go crazy and play with los with your tongue, make a mess and use a spit cup to spit out mudslides. This is the only way I discovered my love for Skruf. Once I figured out 'the one' according to my tastes, I worked on method. As I've learned from many wise snuson members..don't give up on los! Keep trying, perhaps you haven't found 'the one or two' yet.

To add: now I need help switching to portions! I've gone wild for mild and can't handle the extreme flavor and juice release I get from portions! EESH!! I feel for you, Sage....
