I agree. I scan the tobacco area all the time at the station hoping they've got at least something besides Camel.

I stopped at a Liquor Barn somewhere in KY, or was it TN? Anyway...I can relate because they too had a General fridge and i am not even a General fan, but I was so excited, I purchased 1 of each. My disappointment quickly faded once I got in the car and discovered each snus was way past (months) its 'best by' date. The snus was okay, not completely dried out, but not completely moist either. Oh well I used the snus anyway and if I happen upon another General fridge, I'll probably go crazy buying all over again!

This is a stupid question that I'm pretty sure of but I'll ask anyway, is there any kind of problem with using old snus other than it's usually dry and a bit less enjoyable? I can't imagine there would be, but I've got a fridge full of best by mid-2008 snus I'd like to be more sure of before I use.

mcgruff-- as often repeated here, there's nothing much wrong with expired snus that can't be fixed with a couple of drops of water (not too much! using two or three sprays from a houseplant sprayer--that, er, hasn't been used for insecticide--works well) and another afternoon resting in the fridge to re-hydrate.

I'm not a pathologist, however. And re-hydrated snus always tastes a little bland to me -- probably all in my head, though.

A Tobacco Depot chain in Sarasota is where I used to buy General snus, from a neat little fridge on the counter. It sold for $2.75 a tin, cheaper than the cheapest online price.

Two weeks ago, it was $4.85 a can.

I told the owner I was making my last purchase of snus from him and he shrugged and said I was about the only person who ever bought it anyhow.

In our enthusiasm for snus, we sometimes forget how tiny a minority of tobacco users we are.

P.S. That store last year stopped carrying all pipe-related items .. tobacco, pipes and accessories. I bitched to no effect. My world is shrinking.
