that might work. might take a lot of elbow grease but it sound like it would be well worth it.i am going to have to order some the next time on my next order.
Well, I finally received my Offroad LongCut last night and I really like it. The taste is mild, seems to be of pure tobacco (only had one pris, and didn't detect any other flavors).
The texture is crazy! Everyone was right, there is NO baking this stuff, you form it - it crumbles as soon as you move your fingers. So I just jammed a pinch under my lip and formed it with my tongue, which worked suprisingly well. After inserted, you can continue to prod and poke with your tongue and literally keep this in for as long as you like, if it starts to move, just move it back. It never really turns to mush.
I really like the texture and mild flavor. I think this would be a good 'Saturday-morning-with-coffee' loose.
This makes me want to try Kardus even more, or any other longer cut snus if they made more.
Sounds like this would be perfect for consuming liquids. Whether it be coffee, tea, beer, booze, water, soup...you never have to worry about getting the mud torrent coming down again.
I gotta get me some.
Since it doesn't really have an overpowering flavor, just the simple tobacco taste, I imagine it would go well with anything! This could be the first snus that goes really well with beer for me (I haven't found a good snus for stouts yet).
edit : this also may be a prime candidate for adding liquor too, I've seen a few of these posts coming up soon!
The day kardus disappeared was a sad day for snusdom. I loved it's cut and taste but hated the price :P So was v, happy when offroad announced longcut.
Got free samples from snusexpress.com. At first was a little worried that 'pure tobacco' meant the pure tobacco taste of normal offroad I.E. none. but was pleasantly surprised. I wouldn't say it was a tobacco taste like ettan or gellivare, as it has a hint of sweetness
The cut is great. Forming a prilla is really easy and it holds together well. Tried using it with an icetool but with little success - hand rolling seems to be the best option.
Anyway its great stuff would like to see some other companies experimenting with their cut....just imagine longcut ettan
*EDIT* Ah sorry the free sample was from buysnus.com
Well, I've finally tried this stuff and it's rather underwhelming. The cut looks quite a bit like the tinned Kardus (which is finer cut than the "luxury" Kardus), perhaps a slight bit finer yet. It packs and presses with a similar spongy consistency and stays together about as well.
The smell struck me as pretty flat, like a lightly sweet antiseptic with hints of something like a faded memory of liquorice. It reminded me of a nice hospital - one that smells like hospital, but getting close to pleasantly so.
Flavour is initially non-existent - it really tastes like snusing nothing until it gets considerably moistened. Then it tastes like salt and nothing. There are faint undertones of tobacco aromas but they are distant and fleeting. Contrasted with Kardus it's like night and day. Kardus hits you with a warm flood of flavour like a nice scotch does and, if anything, this Offroad shows just how much work Swedish Match put into selecting their Kardus tobaccos - it's got warm caramel, peaty hay, and smooth smoky taste that just leaves Offroad tasting like a salted alcohol swab. It hits a few notes at the back of the nose but has almost zero body.
That said, I wouldn't say Offroad Long Cut is a bad snus - it's totally neutral and, if that's what you're after, it's a non-intrusive flavour. It's great for mixing with beverages, as noted, since it really won't clash at all with whatever you're drinking. On the flipside, it won't really compliment it either. It would be the ideal snus for gin and tonic, I think.
Recently bought a can of Cougar Straight Long Cut. I'd never had this before. This is an initial review, that will need a follow up later. Back in the...
I'm back, maybe. I was a regular here years ago. I recognize some names still here. I had quit all tobacco and nic many years ago. And I used to do it...
