How to try my first orders ?

Alright , today I will be receiving my orders from getsnus !! The orders from Northerner and buysnus should have been here already , so I am hoping today as well . :? . I posted a list of everything earlier and thanks to those who helped .

I found some General original , white , and wintergreen at a local tabacconist last week . I have been enjoying all three of them , and actually catching myself sucking on the portions towards the end to get some more flavor out of 'em .

How do you suggest going about trying all of the cans I ordered ( almost 30 in all ) ? Opening them all would make them go stale before I was able to finish them , right ? Should I break them up into groups according to flavored or non and go about it that way ? I guess I just want to make sure I give each one a fare shake .

I just want to thank all you guys , and girls  . This is one of the best forums I have ever found , regardless of subject . The willingness to help and offer guidance here is rare now-a-days . I dont believe I would have been willing to try as many different varieties as I plan to with out you . So , a heart felt thanks to all of you . I just hope I can contribute and pass along the knowledge as I get more experience .

This is what I might do once I use up the many open cans I have.
I will open 2 different kinds for at home, and 2 different kinds to bring to work. Of these 2 sets of two, I will note which one I like best. The reasoning behind this, is with so many open cans, it's hard to really use them to see how they really are, and to pick(for future orders) which ones I really like best.

When i started out, I would have up to 12 or so cans open at a time. If you keep them in the fridge most of the time, the open cans should be ok. Keep the rest in the freezer

I'm down to 3-5 cans open at a time. Right now I have 2 regular and 2 strong open for variety.

IMHO it doesn't matter how you try them all. In fact, people say that you can open a can, try it, then put it in the freezer with no problems.

My only advice is to finish at least two cans of any one kind before buying a large quantity. Many brands I've tried were great during the first can, but turned on me by the time I finished the second can...

I wouldn't worry too much about your cans going stale. I've had over 20 cans open at one time, and they don't really go bad. Just enjoy them, tryout out as many as you want, if one doesn't tickle your fancy, put it in the freezer and try it again after a few weeks. Snus On!

Truly our pleasure. I can't say enough how much enjoy seeing newbies, being reminded of how amazing this all was when first started. I think without snuson, i would have grown bored long ago.

Anyways, as to your question, no real "right" answer. When i first started, I opened maybe two or three at the most at any given time. If I liked it, i kept using that first can until it was gone. if I didn't, I set it aside and came back to it later.

Having 30 open at the same time IS stressful. Some have done that, but I think t makes it harder to get a good handle on what is what.

Regardless, your tastes are gonna move all over the map your first few months. So be prepared for that, but still notice what you are liking today. As you get a chance to try what you have, see what really grabs you, we can make future suggestions based on that.

And most important. just have fun with it.

Damn, look at what I helped create. You know, there WAS a time when I would always be first to respond. Geez, y'all don't even give me that chance anymore.

It depends on how you store your snus when it comes to opening a bunch of cans. If you open all of them and leave them sitting out, yes they will go bad quicker than you can consume them. However if you keep them in the freezer or fridge they will be fine.

There are those who say it dries out in the freezer after opening but I have about 15 cans open at any given time in my freezer and I have never noticed them change for the worse in this setting. If you store yours in the fridge then maybe I would only open 3 or 4 at a time.

Its tempting to open them all at once but keep in mind that if you snus fairly often it wont be long before you get to the others you want to try. What I did was open a handful make my way through a few of the cans and as I finish one I open another. I was able to try all the different brands I wanted within the first month or two in that way.

                  Yeah, but that's you.

Honestly, I think that is horrible advice for a new person. Sensory overload and all that. Let them slowly go through it, paying attention to what is working for them.

I strongly believe that for anyone that is brand new, no more than 3 cans at a time is wise.

Later, they want to have 30 open, fine. But not when they are brand new.

yeah, true. in the beginning i was very methodical. but now, whew. i'm like the snus goblin or something. but then again when i ordered, i didn't do huge orders. i researched, and would order 3 or 4 varieties per order and just take them a day at a time. then as time went by my orders got bigger, or more varied.

But he IS brand new. So advice needs to take that into account.

As a snubie myself, I find that I cannot resist the temptation to try at least one portion or pris of every can I receive as soon as possible. It isn't unusual for me to snus 4 or 5 different brands in one day.

Fine. But 30 would be overwhelming. And make it difficult to really focus on what they are liking about a particular snus.

The way I've been doing it it to keep 4 cans open in the fridge at a time (rest go in the freezer). I have a white, original portion, sterk, and los - that way I have all the bases covered. Once I finish a can, I replace it with a similar variety from the freezer. I haven't ran into one I disliked enough to pull out of my rotation, but I suppose if that happens just throw it in the freezer and move on to your next in line. You can always go back and revisit those and who knows, your tastes may change by the time you decide to give them another shot.

I've also been keeping a very simplistic log on my computer. After I've had a few days into a can I record my thoughts on it (flavors, comfort level, basic 1 to 10 rating scale, etc) - just a couple sentences. I then revisit it a couple times throughout use and update if necessary. I'm hoping this will help me hone my individual personal tastes and develop a a core group of favorites for future orders.

Very wise way to do it Sigg. Thanks for posting that.
