Elixyr play by play

Post office just dropped off latest order(one of em anyway)! Quite a few new to try but it's gotta be about the Elixyr today. Timing was impeccable as I'm really draggin at the moment and was considering a Starbucks run just as the Mail showed up. This should give me a good opportunity to judge it's effects on me.

Just opened the can...smell didn't bother me as much as it seems to many. Now bear in mind I spent a good part of the day painting yesterday, so who knows what's left of my sense of smell.

I just tossed out a frosted so I'm gonna wait for the palette to cleanse before taking the plunge. Like a fine wine...clear the taste buds and allow the can to air a few. I'll update regularly today...and throughout the can. Chad just did a nice review..but I know we all react diff...so figured I'd add my 2 cents fwiw.

Elyxr has been so controversial, I desperately like seeing as many reviews as possible.

Just understand, I used Elyxr within the first few weeks of it being released back in 2008 and became a huge fan of it right away. At the time, I was the ONLY person on Snuson who liked it. Over time, I learned how to better communicate what Elyxr is, what it does for you, and better positioned folks to really give it a fair trial.

These days, we really are many, but I still appreciate any back up possible. It was truly ugly in those early days and I think I still carry some of that trauma with me. :wink:

well...popped it in....bout 4 minutes in. No gag reflexes whatsoever Little lip squeeze and first impression is a little bitter but not horrible. Mouth feel is cleansing....kinda like the mouth feels after grapefruit juice(feel not taste).
That might be the tartness smell and taste some refer to as cat piss...but still not awful. No desire to spit it out by any means.

It really doesn't taste as bad as I like to make it seem. But in the early days, it tasted so different than any other Swedish snus, that was what folks fixated on. By claiming the bad taste as part of the whole experience, folks are usually surprised it isn't as bad as they thought, then they are much better able to focus on what it is making them feel like.

BTW, best test is first thing in the morning, before you have had any coffee.

yea...taste was not horrible by any means. While I see the point of first in the A.M. Today was a good exception. Got a lot less coffee this morning then normal and I nearly fell asleep while sitting in the car eating lunch. So at the time I got these, I was dragging more then I generally am first thing in the morning.

Results: I'm shaking so bad I can barely type....JUST KIDDING...
For me anyway, it was subtle, I definitely woke up a bit and feel a bit more alert. I was feeling like I was trying to swim in quicksand beforehand. I've never been a huge energy drink fan, but do drink at least a pot of coffee or more throughout the day along with a few Diet Mountain Dews(can't stand the sugar ones anymore).
I'm not feeling the Buzzzz or shakiness I associate with large Guarna/ Taurine/ Caffeine combos I've experienced a few time in the past.

Flavor was tolerable and fine. Tobacca way in the back, maybe lemon rind as opposed to lemon juice? I did note that it was completely flavorless within 45 minutes or so. I normally move, suck, nibble and generally extract the living shit out of portions. I was in a meeting so not so much with this one, but what flavor I was receiving was gone. I did try to extract a bit more juice of flavor after the meeting and found akin to sucking on a paper spitwad. Not a complaint...just observation. In my limited experience...portions such as frosted, Oden and to some extent Clac Qui maintain flavor for up to 2 hours for me.

1st use observations anyway. Glad I've tried many other snus before this and spent some time reading here so I knew at least what to expect. As Sage alluded to, lowered expectation lead to "this aint that bad" result

I'll continue with one or two daily and add as observations come to me.

I think you hit upon something I try and bring out. Elyxr has never given me the jitters. Even the one time I was popping it all day like candy when I was taking my MSF road course on 3 hours sleep.

I find it both gentle and effective.

Give it time. I find I can keep an Elyxr in for 3 hours and still taste it. Then again, taste isn't really the point but I am heading on 1 1/2 years daily usage, so just "typical" for me now.

You might regret that desire with the Elixyr :^D

Again, my typical time with Elyxr is longer than any other snus. Mostly cause I just forget I still have it in.

Reality, since I am only using it for it's effects, I probably should dump it after 30 minutes as all the good stuff I am needing is gone by then

The rind instead of the juice. That's probably the best way to describe and what I was trying to put my finger on exactly what the taste was like. A little more artificial, but it definitely tastes like rind. Which is probably why I associated with Lemon Pledge. There are quite a few citrus oil extract products out and it probably reminded me of one of those.

Either way, I've still used it every weekday morning since I got the can and I'm definitely going to continue buying it. It gets the day going for me.

Morning observations-

I'm thinking my usage case may be different but only time will tell. My days always start with coffee within 5 minutes of waking up. My routine at his point is and Odens ES Kanel with my coffee...perfect combo. Not thinking that Elixyr mixes with coffee so well but I'll give it a chance.

Popped the first Elixyr in today at 9 am or so and same first impression. Little pucker effect for the first 30 seconds or so, then I'm fine with it. Flavor hit a bit stronger this time but still tolerable. As many have stated...it's an effect thing...wouldn't be chasing flavor experience with this one. Effects are as before...mild but noticeable and so far I'm liking that.

I'm thinking long term however that this may become the after lunch hit for me. Coffee in the A.M. is my goto and I rather enjoy a good snus coffee combo in the morning.
I think post lunch is my low energy point of the day, therefore where Elixyr may fit in just right. Follow it up with a Frosted to freshen up the mouth a bit and I may be on to something.

That's my thing with the Elixyr. I have coffee EVERY morning, and the flavor just isn't cool with coffee. I get the mid day sleepies sometimes, and for me that would be a better time to use it.
