Can this day get any worse??

So I wake up to a post that says Retro, my favorite snus of all time, is going away. OK, well, I suppose Camel White and Lucky strike white are close enough, I will live.

Just got a PM that says that camel and Lucky strike can no longer be sold in the USA because of trademark issues, Sure enough, go to Buysnus and click on either, and it now says "Can't be shipped to the US" or some such.

    WTF.

What in the hell have I done?? I am a decent guy, I don't hurt folks, I try and do nice things for people. In the span of 30 minutes, I have just learned I can no longer get the snus that I use 50% of the time, and the only snus I truly love with no regrets.

At least I got an e-mail that my order of a roll of Camel White and a roll of retro white have been shipped, gla I at least got under the wire. Still.

The Lucky Strike thing doesn't make much sense. I know RJ Reynolds markets the cigarettes in the US, but BAT markets and distributes the cigarettes and snus everywhere else. How are there any trademark issues when they both have the rights to distribute the product? It's not like they're selling something that people can buy from RJ Reynolds in the US.

Looks like BAT just got a new chairman. I wonder if that has anything to do with it.

Yea, let this be a lesson for all our newbies- sometimes your tastes will change and other times you will have them changed for you.

Bad day bro we share your pain

The original Trademark was owned by Americam Tobacco Company

          http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucky_Strike
....In 1978 and 1994, export rights and U.S. rights were purchased by Brown & Williamson....
          http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brown_%26_Williamson
Brown & Williamson was an American tobacco company and subsidiary of the giant British American Tobacco....Brown & Williamson had its headquarters at Louisville, Kentucky until July 30, 2004, when the U.S. operations of Brown & Williamson merged with R.J. Reynolds, creating a new publicly traded parent company, Reynolds American Inc....
So now Reynolds American Inc - RAI - controls the U.S. rights to the Lucky Strike trademark.

That seriously sucks. I feel so bad for you and anyone else who loved all of those. What a bad day for snus.

That really sucks Sage, I feel your pain :'^(

You don't like PM1847, do you? That's the closest flavor to Retro and Camel imo.

OMG No, it has this horrible aftertaste that I detest.

I will live. Will force my tastes to change. Hell, maybe this is what I needed to make me like los. Take away the only portions that are a guarantee like at any and every moment. I suppose Pall Mall is close. Wat, they got rid of that too, didn't they.

But don't mourn too much. I will deal. I long ago made my deal with the devil that is the utter randomness of the snus trade. You can fall in love and it can be snatched away at any moment. I knew that, so simply refuse to complain about it now. But I won't lie, it really has just turned into a shitty day. But that isn't anything new to me, I will survive as I always do. I just let go.

Supposedly, things are still available at Northerner. I truly have NO money to spend on snus though.

                Hint Hint.

I'd help you out if I could. My unemployment ran out this week. I can call for an extension, but I'm not sure how long that'll last :^/

Some of the smaller manufacturers do seem to have have production bottlenecks. It's very possible Retro has not been discontinued but is taking a backseat to a launch of Lucky Strike Bold outside of Norway.

Similar to when Knox took a backseat to Skruf's launch of white portions.

F&L didn't waste any time removing Pall Mall from it's homepages but Retro is still there.

Oh man Sage that sucks. I ordered 1 can of Camel from Northerner last Monday. I hope they still ship it. I don't have a tracking number or anything for it. Now I hope I don't like the Camel if I won't be able to get anymore. There's always Level! (that's a joke.)

Try new Alpaca snus from JTI!! also available, new Lucky Pike stark. It's the snus with teeth!!

I would use the name llama, but that has some negative connotations in gamer circles :^D

(is it just me or does GetSnus look like they cut out alot of white portion snus from their catalog?)

                              SnusCentral
                              Retro - not listed

                              Northerner
Retro White/original - Tried to test order a can of Retro White and got all the way through to PayEx screen - so you may be able to still order it from them.
Lucky Strike White - Same as Retro, got all the way through to PayEx screen.
Camel White - "Sorry, we had to remove following products:
                              Camel White, Portion"

Ok, so it looks like Northerner is still shipping Retro and Lucky Strike. Anyone who wants these products should stock up from Northerner, it looks like.
