6 months on, my snus experiance, and a few question.

I have been creeping around here for nearly a year and this will be my first snus related post.

First of all I want to thank you all, this site is has been an excellent resource for me.

so I quit smoking for health reasons about a year ago, chain smoking did I number on me. potted around with American dip till i came across snus on the wiki page...and i haven't looked back.

truth be told i was paranoid about gum recession when i fist started so i have been watching my mouth like a hawk. and as many of you report i have overall much better gum health due to OSD brushing habits that i have develop. i also use portions on my bottom gums (a dipping habit) and los on the top to switch up the locations. i haven't touched smokes since i discovered snus, and i dont even miss it. hard to imagine, as i have been smoking a pack a day for over 10 years. needless to say im overall much more healthy, i wake up some morning and im shocked as to how good i feel now hat i dont smoke, i have forgotten how easy it is supposed to be to breath.

as many ex smokers first cashed the nic rush from the sterks but now im settling on RL and Ettan. im aslo scaling back and i find m self using snus less and less often. it seems that over time im starting to use for enjoyment, someday i have hardly any.

so far in my experience i love he taste of los, and i ant seem to get over the paper overtones of the portions. i know alot of people here swear by them, and i use them for connivance when im not in a position to los. but so far after numerous tins of everything from mini white to original, they all taste like cardboard to me, where a i can now discern minutia in the flavor of los. and the further i move away from smoking the better my sense of taste gets and the more i find portions unpalatable. dos any one else experience this? is it due my placement?

I finally got a icetool yesterday after reading all the reviews, and im never looking back, that thing is awesome. im wondering any advice on a handy carry device fo it. i;ed like to somehow combine my loose with my ice tool, as i dont have unlimited pocket space.

anyway, thanks for the site folk, probably one of the best things i have come across, helped my quit smoking after 5 years of trying.

Welcome Tlaloc, nice intro. I don't typically carry my icetool unless it goes in my backpack or something, but it does have a hole for a keyring. You might give that a try. Congrats on quitting the cigs. Or if you're not worried about dorking out, you could get a little pouch for your belt that's designed to hold a small cellphone or a Leatherman or something, but I'd prefer putting it in my pocket as it's so small. In fact, I personally would not wear the belt pouch at all, what the hell am I talking about. Welcome again.

Welcome to SnusOn. My story is similar to yours. I got tired of the tools and just handbake now. I agree that portions have too much flavor and juice. But eveyone is different and should find their own solution.

      -Cheers!

Welcome and thanks for the post! Just finished first week without a cigarette after 25 years. Every success story involving snus I hear just helps to keep me motivated and I'm certain it will do the same for others.

                Wlcome to Snuson Tlaloc :^)

I wouldn't say I get a papery taste from portions, and least not the regulars I use, but I do prefer lös.

I carry my IceTool in a Gotland tin, and it sits in a bed of fabric. That's exactly the opposite of what you're looking for, as it adds bulk and weight. Keeping it in a tin helps keep it from getting beat up, and it makes it easier to find when I leave it lay around.

i actually saw that earlier today in another post you made, so i already cleaned out a goatland tin (they seem to be the strongest, and the best size) and im gonna try hat for the next few days.

Pro tip... I de-labeled the tin, and used a portion tin for the bottom, with a lös lid. It helps keep me from mixing up the tins when they're sitting in front of me :^D

The purple bags that Crown Royal comes in are awesome for carrying anything. I use them for all kinds stupid stuff including snus. If I'm going to be driving or going to be away from home for an extended period of time, I throw a few cans in one to take with me.

I had something funny happen while using a Crown Royal bag to transport snakes to a friend's farm last spring. I had this crazy garter snake invasion after a few snakes bred or something and they were absolutely everywhere. I didn't really want to kill them since they're pretty beneficial to have around, but having curious dogs, I was a little concerned about that many snakes being around.

My friend, who owns a small farm, asked if I could round up some of the snakes to help pest control on his property. I saw this as a good alternative to killing the snakes and began catching them and taking them over to his farm. I took countless baby snakes to him usually using those disposable tupperware containers.

One morning, I caught a good sized adult and that was the only snake I could find. I was out of tupperware and decided I would keep the snake in a Crown Royal bag. After all, a sac with a drawstring was good enough for Jake "The Snake" Roberts and his python, so why wouldn't it be good enough for a Garter snake, right? I put the snake in the bag and tied it up tight, making sure the snake couldn't get out and I threw it on my passenger seat and started driving to my friend's.

On my way to the farm, I was pulled over by a county cop. Now I wasn't aware of this, but apparently kids these days love to put drugs and drug paraphernalia in Crown Royal bags, so this cop took a keen interest in the bag on my passenger seat. He asked me what was in it and I told him it was a snake and that I was taking it to a friend's property. Well, he didn't believe me. He asked if he could take a look and I handed him the bag. He took the bag and start feeling it and pinching it. He commented about how there wasn't anything moving and he began to open it. Right as he pulled the top of the bag open that snake poked it's head out. I seriously think the cop shit himself. His eyes got huge, he dropped the bag and jumped backwards. You know how anytime you see footage of a cop in a dangerous situation, the first thing they do is put their hand on their gun? They don't always draw it, but they always put their hand on it at the first sign that shit may hit the fan. Well this cop did that. It was awesome. I don't think I've ever laughed so hard in my life.

After the cop calmed down, he was actually really cool about it. He gave me a warning for my brake light being out and apologized for not believing that there was a snake in the bag. He even helped me get the snake back in the bag. I think that was the best time anybody could possibly have while pulled over by the police.

There is actually a logical thought process that led to the story. In my head, anyways.

When people started talking about things they do to make carrying snus more convenient, it reminded me of using a Crown Royal bag which in turn reminded me of the snake incident. I couldn't pass up telling it once I thought about it.

See! It all makes perfect sense. lol
