Hold on fellas. I can tell things are getting hot here and I would hate to see either of you leave the forum over this matter.

Somewhere along the way I think I must have missed something. cj are you saying that someone hacked into your computer or your snuson account and made posts in your name?

Regardless, cj I hope that you will reconsider and that this mess can be straightened out and put behind us. I have always enjoyed the contributions that both you and ctimb2002 bring to the forum and hate to see either of you this upset.

    Just my 2 cents

        wa3zrm,

The only problem with getting stuck in a rut, is having it turn on you. Then you'll go from loving it to hating it.

Life is too crappy to take stuff in a forum seriously. Just have fun with it.

I've been outta work for about a week or so now...knee problems...and have been tearing up some los. Not one brand but just los...maybe like 6 portions in the past like 8 days...we all get stuck...just don't bind yourself to it. Don't force anything and let your cravings guide you.

You'll be glad to have that stash later, or if not just do as Badfish suggested and sell it to us! 8)

What the hell is going on here? I'm kind of tired of trying to figure out. All these locked threads and whatnot, people leaving, people getting pissed about Level pictures... Lol. Will someone please just lay it all on the table? Thanks.

                    just a couple of cents..

I think it is really normal to turn into 1 or 2 brand guy after using snus for a while. At least in Scandinavian countries it is really common to use only 1 brand always. Usually General lös or Ettan lös.

I use General Onyx portion almost always, but sometimes I throw in something different, but I still get back to Onyx after that. So if it seems that you are not using all that other stuff, you probably should trade it soon...

That's one thing that really facinates me:

Most Americans prefer an assortmant of snus brands. Where as more of our Scandinavian brethern seem to stick to a single snus.

I wonder if this has something to do with American’s afinity for over the top flavoring- thus the need to change things up to offsett the more subtle and natural flavoring of snus (now give us dip or cigs and we tend to stick to one brand- but then again we’re back to artificial and over the top flavoring- at least as far a dip is concerned)
When it's my time to go, I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like my uncle did....... Not screaming in terror like his passengers

I don't know if that is the reason

I've noticed that most of the long term members of this forum (more than a year and a half) have settled into using more of their favourite brands/manufacturers - lxskllr is a Gotlands man (with Ettan, Grov, Gellivare and Landstroms thrown into the the mix), Sagedil (who used to be the king of swapping brands seems to have settled on a few favourites - Retro White, LS, Camel and Odens Kanel), Soft Morning City (Ettan, Grov White, Knox portions), Xobeloot (All V2)

Of course they still vary their orders slightly but it seems that they have all found their favourites.

Speaking for myself I can say that my orders now consist almost entirely of my top 5 lös and portions. Skruf/Gotlands (yellow and gray)/Ettan/General.

I would venture that given another year or two we might see that most members of this forum have at least settled on three brands they prefer above all others - once the novelty of all the great snus flavours have worn off.

But then again I might be completely wrong....

I don't really know why we usually use only 1 brand, but I can easily support your theory about over-the-top flavouring. I think here only women use hi-flavoured snus, and if men use, they use it as treat. It is not for everyday use.

I think one thing which affects this behavior is simply a taste difference. Usually american treats, candies etc are sweet and pumped with sugar. Scandinavian treats are usually less sweet, more salty.

For example buns which we eat with coffee, they are sweet, but not really sugary. More like white bread with littlebit sweet sugary & spices taste.

If I had to do some theory about this, I would say it is a combination of cultural difference (different taste) and tradition. Tradition is to use tobacco flavoured loose stuff.

And of course, it is a mistake to say that "scandinavian countries" are all about the same. Every country has different kind of culture and tradition... but I think for you guys who live in states we all look like same, so let's stick with it

KB, I absolutely agree with you. I too have settled into a regular rotation of a few favorites. At the same time, that’s the point I was making. When I dipped it was one brand all the time. The only time I varied was when the store was out of my brand and I had to make a sub. Most smokers I have known stick to a single brand as well. But give us snus and we use multiple brands (narrowed down somewhat to our favorites) and then we even tend to burn out on a particular type from time to time. This is different from what I am hearing from our (not to be lumped together and all looking very culturally diverse) Scandinavian friends- lol Reindeer. It is even different from American tobacco usage.

I'm sure there are numerous factors behind this and just as many exceptions to the rule. I have always just found the general trend to be interesting.

I think you're spot on. I still use quite a few different snuses, but not like I once did. I used to carry 5 or 6 different types with me, but now I could go on a month long vacation, and be completely happy with 3 different snuses.

The heavy initial experimentation for me was due in large part to the "foreign" flavors. I generally prefer the European take on foods, which seems to be more about subtlety, than beating you over the head with over the top flavoring. Licorice, juniper, bergamot... You don't really find these in the USA, and the flavors are very agreeable to me. I guess it comes down to being like a kid in a candy store. You run through and try all the deliciousness, but after you've had it all, the few "standards" become mainstays.
