    Considering Trying Los...

Any advice? I've been reading around here trying to decide what a good first los should be, but I've not been able to find an answer. Until now I've been using mostly General Original, or Skruf Original portions, with the occasional Onyx or Skruf Stark in between. Any suggestions on what I should buy in my first los order?

Roda Lacket. I only have two tins of los. Roda Lacket was recommended here repeatedly for newbies, mainly because it is so easy to hand bake. I can attest that this is true. RL is like play-dough and holds together easily. The flavor is excellent and it coats the mouth to feel like silk. There is no saltiness or burn either.

      Welcome to Snusuon DriverFound

I too have been trying to learn to like los. I love the Prima Fint. And Skruff is good as well.

Thanks for the welcome(s)! I like the idea of the sample pack thing from getsnus.com. I think I might try that. Seems to me to be a good starting point anyway. As for the Roda Lacket, I did like the portion version of that, so if it turns out I like los, that'll be on my list.

          Thanks again!

            Hi and welcome!

Roda and General are both good. Ettan is my daily and is just a good all round classic tobbaco taste. Prima Fint is very mild with a touch of sweet. Those are my top four suggestions. Good luck finding a fav!

That's the best idea on this thread, in my opinion.

Ettan, Grov and Roda Lacket are my favorite SM loose brands. Ettan is my absolute favorite of the trio, but you really can't go wrong with any of them.

I strongly recommend getting the sampler pack. Very useful. It was a great thing to have when I was first getting into loose snus. I found all of my favorites in there and they're still my favorites to this day (almost 2 years later).

I've only ever baked Skruf, General and General Ekstra Sterk. Out of these, I found Skruf to be the easiest to bake. Also the tastiest IMO. If you want sterk løs, go with skruf IMO. If you just want regular strength follow others advice.

Of course, I'd say with 75% certainty you won't like løs snus, perhaps just for special occasions. Most snusers use portion, for a reason. From personal experience, I'd say less than 25% of snus users in Norway use løs. Still yet, its definately worth a try

Looking at your tastes in portions, I'm not sure RL is the best for you flavor wise.

I like the same type portions as you, and the Roda was just kinda bland to me. I love the RL portions but the los just doesn't seem to have the same oomph!

Just my .02, but I'd go with the Skruf or Ettan. Heck even General los is better IMO! As long as you get a prismaster, ease of baking shouldn't really be a factor for you.

Like I said just my .02. Don't hate me if I'm wrong! 8)

Another vote for Skruf + the sampler. Samplers are great. If it doesn't already come with skruf (I didn't click the link) order some. You already like the flavor, and it stays together quite well. All time favorite los for me.

Don't forget Göteborgs Rapé loose. Coarse grind bakes well yet will stay together a long time. It has a touch of juniper that I've found is much more mild than the portions.
I do enjoy Prima Fint but the fine grind just doesn't have the staying power.
You can't go wrong with Skruf tho. I use it 50% of the time with something sweeter like GR or Offroad Cranberry to mix it up.

I've placed my order for the sampler from getsnus...one question though. Is the Prismaster going to be adequate, or should I look at an icetool? The only thing holding me back is the price...

The prismaster will suffice until you find out if you actually like los. But if you do end up really liking it, an icetool is an excellent investment! 8)
