My guess is that it's used as a natural preservative.

I waited a day and tried some General Dry mini-mints that also came with my order, no problems there and I enjoyed them quite a bit.

I assume there is a acclimation period to the bigger portions? Is it better to take one on a full stomach? For the time being I am keeping the Odens in the freezer
sleipnir, i'm a snubie myself. when i got my first order of real snus the oden's extra stark almost gagged me a couple of times, but it ended up being on my list of must haves. there was also the phantom blue which i didn't like, but i ended up liking it and reordered more. the more experienced people here say to not draw a conclusion about a snus by just a couple of times trying it and they are pretty much right. i am currently a chain snuser and i have some on a full stomach and an empty one and it's pretty much the same experience for me.

Funny thing is that General original portion is fast becoming one of my favorites. Yeah, it's a little salty at the start, but it has tremendous flavor that outweighs the salt. To me it's better than the General white portion. Go figure.

          Welcome sundog,

          Snubie here as well...

General Lös kicks ass as well. I've used the General Wintegreen Whites and they grew on me over time. The only thing that bothers me about them is they can taste a bit artificial after 20 min or so... and the portions tend to be dryer than the Claq Qui in my rotation. The dryness of it can be annoying and irritates my gums.

Back to General Lös. It's got a salty, lemony, peppery thing going on. Lös can be challenging to use at first (mud mouth, pris baking), but the effort is worth it IMO... I use them just as I would use a portion now, as I have gotten pretty adept at rolling a good pris.

Tisk Tisk sundog lets remember our history. Traditionally, we in South Carolina refer to those in your state as “the boys from Bama” while throughout history ya’ll have referred to us as “sir” 8)

Now that’s just asinine and completely uncalled for, juvenile even… I apologize.

                Lol to ya sundog

Spit cup is so "dippish", so I had to personalize the expression, plus my actual use was more a drool than a spit.

Today though I didn't use it. I only was using it because my 1st time with snus a few months back, I'd get an upset stomach, so I wanted to ease myself into revisiting snus, but I didn't want to chance feeling ill. It's been a few days now, and I just did a portion of Roda Lacket with a cup of coffee and no drool cup, and I am not feeling ill, so I think it was a good thing to do at 1st for a few days to get more used to it. Actually I'd recommend it to newbies.

I hear ya, I was spitting a lot my first few portions, but it's ok now. I think it was all of the salt.
