    Poor General Wintergreen pouches?

I got the sample pack of General a couple of month ago, and at the time, I really liked the General Wintergreen. Without really thinking much about it, I ordered about 5 cans of it from getsnus.com. This ended up being a mistake, as I have come to not really like it too much anymore (too much artificial sweetening taste).

What I did notice however, is that the portion pouches are made very badly. If I try to squeeze one between my fingers, even lightly, to even out the tobacco (which always seems to bunch on one side), one end will rip open and leak out. One of the cans was so bad, a couple of portions ripped open in the can just from being in my pocket. I opened it while driving to grab one and thought it was filled with ants (I was only able to glance at it). I almost ran off the road!

I just figured it was a bad batch, until the other day, when I accidentally grabbed a can of Wintergreen from my local snus retailer thinking it was a can of white portion. Same problem in this tin, bought months later from a different retailer.

So what gives? I have never had another portion leak out, even if it gets jostled around a bit. The Wintergreen just pop open very easily if I am not very careful. Has anyone else ever seen this?

    Re: Poor General Wintergreen pouches?

I buy general wintergreen and general los from my local retailer all the time. In fact, general wintergreen is one of my favorite snus'. I have never had this happen, but I don't really take them out and squeeze them. I do abuse them while they are in my mouth, turning them around and moving them from one side of my lip to the other.

As for them ripping open in the can, i've never ever had that happen, so I don't know. Maybe you have really poor luck with them.

SM had a huge problem with the Wintergreen pouches. For some reason the glue that was used was not from their normal supplier. If you contact Swedish Match they will take care of you.

I had this same problem with Wintergreen in my sample pack. Interesting. Man I wish I had a local retailer!

It probably has to do with the fact that Wintergreen is Swedish Match's "USA exclusive snus" as far as I know. I have never seen it on a Swedish snus retailer's site, and I think there was a post some time ago here where a Swedish snus user had no idea what kind of General we were talking about.

I may give Swedish Match a call, but I am not too worried about it. I appreciate you taking the time to post here to let me know, though.

I gave it a shot not too long ago and I can't say I had any problems with durability. I just didn't care for the taste of them at all, too sweet and not minty enough, I feel like the flavor resembles more of a chewing gum than an actual wintergreen such as the Thunder variety.

The first two cans of Wintergreen I had did this. A couple portions even opened themselves in the can. I'm about 4 cans into a fresh roll now and have not had the same problem.

General has always had that problem........occasionally
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

The portions are definitely flimsy and cheap, and I did find a broken portion in the one can I purchased. Can't wait to be rid of this Skoal-inspired snus abomination. I barely touch the bag with my tongue unlike with other brands so I don't have to taste it.

Same thing happened to me. Wasn't too bad though.

I posted a thread about this awhile back.
I've had several open on me. It seems to happen closer to the expiry date.

I have never tasted Skoal. I just love wintergreen and to me they taste more like wintergreen lifesavers. I don't know that they purposelessly made the Wintergreen flavor for dip users. I know tons of women that use and love General wintergreen and have never dipped

I've had three cans of general wintergreen...and this has happened in all 3 of them.

I usually manhandle my portions, and I've had a few General Whites separate on the end.
