I am having a great time tasting the Grovsnus Black (Svart), but I find it so similar to Onyx, but now I find I prefer the grovsnus, I am having a hard time figuring out why, because to me they are very close. Any body notice this, and can some one with better tastbuds put their finger on it. Good snus this one.
Grovsnus Black VS General Onyx

There's a difference.
Grov Svart - anise and vanilla
Onyx - lemony citrus and pepper
I prefer Onyx , dislike Grov Svart

If you like anise there's a good chance you'll like the Gotland GrĂĄ (grey) Portion it has an anise flavor too.

Originally posted by whalenWith all do respect, I know how they are supposed to taste, but to me they both are margarita ville with citrus, this is my fourth day of tasting. I cannot even get the anise/vanilla, just lime.
I personally loved Grov Svart for about half a can. Then the taste became overwhelming and boring at the same time. I'll most likely never buy it again.
Reading your description I suspect that SM has refined the taste to something better. A few months ago, Grov Svart certainly did not taste at all like General Onyx.
Cheers!

I just ordered a roll of Onyx today (I never thought this would happen, since it's expensive). But I ordered a single tin a while back, and recently I have been thinking about how much I miss those 24 portions that I had. I hope that I won't change my mind.
Why did I fall in love with Onyx?
1 The pouch material was smooth and perfect
2 Neither too wet nor too dry (unlike, say, General White, which is too dry, and General Original, which is too wet)
3 Not too salty, but still a hint of salt
4 The refreshing lime/lemon flavor (sort of like a "Corona flavor")
5 The only snus I have tried that is great on its own and good with all sorts of drinks (e.g. Thunder Wintergreen is great on its own but terrible with coffee, and Grov Black is great with coffee but boring without beverages)
6 The strength is good: strong, but never gives you a headache
I can't wait!

I like both but prefer Grov Black. The anise stays in the back ground for me and the vanilla flavor is a nice change from all the other citrus flavored snus I use. If I'm running low on Onyx I just make a note to snag a few tins next order. If I'm running low on Grov its time to order NOW!

I also like Grov Bl. but I like Onyx better.

I agree onyx is better. Grov black is still very good. I'm not a big fan of anis, but the vanilla adds a great touch.
I don't know if it was because the snus was fresh, but the prilla inside the bag was tightly compressed which gives it a timed released effect. Grov black is something I'll definitely keep in my rotation, plus its priced well.
