    white portion suggestions

Alright, so here's the issue: it gets hot here in Texas during the summer. Real hot. In the time I've been snusing, I've noticed that heat adversely affects the taste of the regular portions I use while out and about. Thus, I'm considering using white portions during the summer. I've used them occasionally in the past on hot days and they tend to keep a lot better in my pocket than regular portions do.

It's been a long time since I've used white portions, so I was wondering what you guys would recommend. I prefer a pure tobacco taste, so I'm considering Grov or Ettan, of course (leaning towards Grov as of right now). Are their any others you would recommend? Are the white portion versions of Grov and Ettan any good? What about the Lucky Strike whites? I know that I enjoyed them in the past, but it's been so long since I've had one that I've forgotten what they taste like.

    Any help would be appreciated.

As far as whites go, I love Lucky Strike and Pall Mall. I would say those are my favorite. They do tend to be a bit strong on flavor. Both are tobacco flavored with a hint of some other stuff in em.

Lucky Strike is a smoky flavor were as Pall Mall has more of a subtle flowery taste.

Other than that, Grov white portions are great too. Tobacco all the way!

Thanks, man. I'm thinking I'll go with a roll of Grov whites and a can or two of Lucky Strike whites. If I like them, I'll go back for more.

I'm not ordering for another few days, so I've got plenty of time to decide. But as of right now, Grov seems definite.

General white tastes extremely close to grov. Both are a bit different though. I like grov, but they seem like a version of general that just didn't get it right.

I rather like the Tre Ankre, and Onyx. I'm kind of drawing a blank at whites, as they aren't my favorite style. Try putting the snus in a old Skruf tin. It won't help in your pocket, but it'll stay cooler in the sun.

Get the hell out of Texas; Too damned hot!! :^P

My two favorites are Retro white and Lucky Strike white. Both two of my top 10 favorite snus overall.

Aye, they aren't my favorite style either. That's why I asked. This is pretty much just a summer thing for me. The rest of the year, I'm a Knox guy when using portions.

I always forget about Tre Ankare. I think I'm going to get a can or two. I remember liking it in the past, but I haven't used it in a while.

I'm not a fan of Retro, but I'm definitely going to throw a few cans of Lucky Strike whites in my order.

As of right now, this is what I'm looking at:

              1 roll of Grov white
2 cans of Lucky Strike white
              2 cans of Tre Ankare

I don't like Retro regular much at all. But the whites are a different story. Pall Mall white is good to, similar to the Retro.

Excellent choices all around. I'm a huge fan of Grov White. I always have to a have a can of Tre Ankare around too. LS White is good with a hot cup of black coffee. Maybe not during the Texas summer though..

Get some general white...Grov to me tastes great, but seems like a lesser form of general.

General and I don't get along too well. Something about it just turns me off. Too much of a citrus presence. To each their own though. I prefer the plain (some might say "boring) taste of Grov.

I agree, LS white is awesome with hot coffee. You may be right though. I don't know if it'll make a very good hot summer snus. I'm just going to order a few cans and see if it works out. I think Grov white will work out just fine. I love the loose and the regular portions, regardless the time of year.

Good to know. I tried Retro regular and didn't dig it. I might throw a can of Retro white and Pall Mall white in my order. Can't hurt.

                      Updated list:

                      1 roll of Grov white

I prefer Ettan white to Grov white. Vice-versa for loose.

Roda Lacket white has never done me wrong. Very nice fresh taste.

I agree on the Tre Ankare as well.

                            Skruf stark white ftw.

Ah, I didn't mean to imply that you thought Grov was boring. I've just met a lot of people that seem to regard it as such.

I don't consider General a flavored snus, but I don't consider it a pure tobacco snus either. It's someplace in between. The tobacco taste comes through clearly, but the citrus notes are just as clear to me. General is a strange beast. I don't hate it and I'd have no problem using it if it were all I had, but if I have the choice I'll pick Ettan or Grov every time.

I considered the Ettan whites, but I already use Ettan loose a majority of the time. Consequently, my taste for Ettan portions, white or regular, is completely ruined. They just don't taste the same to me.

With Grov, I've found that I enjoy the taste of the regular portions almost as much as the loose. I can only assume that I'll like the whites as well.

Headquartered in Malmö, Sweden, Fielder & Lundgren is probably the oldest snus manufacturing name in Sweden. Started as a company in 1835, F & L's history has been full of name changes but one thing that has stayed consistent thru out it's 175 year existence, is it's commitment to producing quality Swedish snus.

Even though the company was started in 1835, it was Samuel Fielder who applied for permission to manufacture snus in Gothenburg, Sweden in 1785. Today, Fielder & Lundgren produces
