    Whites, White Wedges & Gotlands

Does anyone suffer any gum discomfort from the SM white star formation portions? I had been using General White portions for a while to cut down on my nic intake (have been a die-hard Skruf Strong Portion fan for quite a while) but when the new wedge portions started to come through I have noticed considerable gum discomfort and have reverted to Skruf Stark. Did try Skruf Original but wasn't too keen on that. Has anyone else noticed that with the wedge portions or is it just me? Also do any white portion users recommend any in particular on the market today that tend to be kinder to your gums then most?

I can't stand white portions; got some LS Whites right now and although I like the flavor it feels like wadded up paper towels in my lip. However the black portion material feels much nicer. I'd also recommend any Gotlands portion as they are drier than most whites but have a really nice feel.

Thanks for that. Now you come to mention it I remember the Gotland Julesnus being less moist than the average original portion. I'll pop some Gotland into my next order and give it a go.

I'd be interested to know why you didn't enjoy the Skruf OP. I've never used the stark portions as I tend to buy the Skruf Stark lös on a regular basis (for those extra nic need moments) so I don't know how they compare in flavour.

I'd second the Gotlands recommendation. Probably the most comfortable portions ever. However, it is far more citrus based than Skruf so I don't know if the flavour profile will appeal to you.

Ps: I haven't had the new General whites but based on my experience with Onyx I would agree that its not the most comfortably shaped portion. Excellent portion material though. Perhaps try rolling them between your fingers to distribute the tobacco more evenly?

Karl - Thanks - Will try remolding the General Whites with my fingers

I'm guessing Gotland Gul would be my best bet with it having a more tobacco than anything taste?

Ref the Skruf Originals to me they tasted more bitter than the Stark, they stung more in the mouth and made me feel a little hyper rather than calm. I was hoping for a similar experince to Skruf Stark but just not as much nicotine. Just my personal experience though, don't want to put you off them

Generally, I think that the new General Sterk and General Extra Sterk are quite harsh to the gums and to the throat.

I used General Extra Sterk Portions a month ago while I had a cold and it feeled really bad, so bad that I avoided to use them for some days.

That said, i think that out of all the new "sterk/stark/strong" brands, Swedish Match managed to produce the best package nonetheless.

'Good old' Skruf Stark is still my No. 1 favorite, besides of that.

            Cheers!

Not pure tobacco like Ettan. If I remember correctly the flavour profile is rose, maple and citrus. Some have remarked on the bitterness but I've never noticed it. I have to add though that I think RL is so sweet that I can't even use more than a portion every now and again.

Strange....I've never noticed any bitterness (I spot a trend here). I will have to try the Skruf Stark with my next order. Do you prefer the white or regular starks? Oh and no chance of putting me off the OPs. It is my go-to snus along with Gotlands Gul.

Karl - I have only ever tried the original Skruf Starks. I don't tend to go for whites as they make my gums sore but on the other hand I don't tend to like the originals that really drip and so I go for the drier browns.

I wonder if you'll think the Starks have a sweeter taste than the Originals? Would be interested to know what you think.

Gotlands was a success for me btw, thanks to yourself and Jamesstew for that recommendation! Moisture, nicotine level and nicotine release rate just right for me for an all-day snus. I kind of switch now between Gotlands and Skruf Stark depending on my nicotine needs Enjoying a couple of tins of the Gotlands yellow this week. Sort of a "classic" Swedish snus taste which I find nice. Ordered a yellow and a grey for next week. I remember liking Aniseed flavoured snus when I tried Romeo Y Juleitta and so looking forward to trying that too. Not sure I would like the green as wouldn't Elderflower taste flowery?

Not flowery at all. I'm not very familiar with elderberries, so I think it tastes like green apple. I'd get a tin to try it out. It's my least favorite of the Gotland line, but I still like it.

Glad you are enjoying the Gotlands.

The Yellow is a great all day snus and the Grey is great as well. I actually prefer the Gotlands Grey to the Romeo Y Julietta. I found the anis in the R&J to be a bit overpowering whereas the Gotlands is more nuanced.

Personally I like the Green a lot and include a can in each order. If you want a flavour comparison pick up a bottle of the Pure Pret Grape & Elderflower juice at Pret a Manger. Pretty much identical in flavour.

Ps: The Skruf white original portions have a similar feel to the Gotlands portions. I'll try the starks and let you know if they are as comfortable.

Just had to sing the praises of Gotland's green. To me it has a deliciously refreshing taste of apple. Went through nearly 1/2 a can yesterday and have already ordered some more

Wasn't too keen on the grey as the Aniseed taste was a little too muted for me but loving the yellow too.

Glad to hear you liked the Green I find it to be the only "fruit" flavoured snus that I can use for an entire day without getting bored with the taste.

I love Gotlands Green. It's a nice flavor and the little hint of apple isn't overpowering, which is the key.

And I actually really like the General Onyx portions. The wedge shape kind of fits my gums nicer, and the black portion is smooth as silk.
