Patrick of V2 was kind enough to send me a sample of Phantom Classic Brown Lös to try out. Apparently it's available in Sweden, but not through the usual mail order channels.
This snus is very subtle, with faint chocolate notes, and just a hint of gin(juniper). It has the typical Phantom consistency, and as is typical for V2, very little salt. The flavor strikes me as being a cross of Grov, and Göteborgs Rapé, but with much less gin flavor. The flavor lasts quite awhile, but it's very muted throughout. Someone new to snus may consider it lacking in flavor, kind of like Ettan. I always thought Göteborgs lös would be better with less of the gin flavor. I finished the tin, but was happy when it was gone. This has the perfect level, very mild, and it just hints at the gin instead of beating you over the head with it.
Sadly, this isn't the Grov killer I was hoping for, but it's an excellent snus in it's own right. It's easily my favorite Phantom so far, and I'd love to see it more widely available. It would definitely be a roll buy for me, and a nice addition to my stocked flavor set.
As an aside... V2 really seems to be progressing as a manufacturer. Their latest products have shown a refinement that wasn't apparent in their earlier efforts, and if kept up, they'll be able to compete at the highest levels.
