anyone ever get a swollen lip from snusing?

Snus should only really be kept out of the fridge for a couple of days max. So if you're keeping it outside the fridge for 3 days, especially if you're keeping it in a pocket at body temperature, then I'd say that could be your problem.

I'm not an expert, but that's my experience.

Edit - just noticed you're in Detroit, so that probably means your snus will have spent a fair while in transit before reaching you, making the above all the more true.

When i get an order of snus in the mail, i put it in the freezer and have one open at a time. if i have more than one open, i keep the one i'm not using in the fridge. this tin was out of the fridge for 3 or 3 days because it was the current tin i was using. but a few days shouldn't be a problem, right?
also, the freezer is a good place to keep snus, right?
i'm wondering if it was some reaction between the snus and some bratwurst that i ate right before my lip swelled up, maybe some preservative or something that was in the brats?

This could be true, my friend had a habit of not keeping snus in a fridge.

I've had it, generally with snus that's slightly less than fresh. I'm guessing it's something akin to an allergic reaction. But usually as long as I make sure to store my snus properly it doesn't happen.

My experience is like Zero's. When I first started using Snus my upper lip felt sore and swollen but with time the skin turned leathery and I don't have this problem anymore. I'm not sure if that's a good thing though? :?

I too never had this problem.

Maybe it occurs, if you already have a lesion on your lip. I could imagine, that snus is not sound for wounds.

A friend of mine, who did not smoke, got this for a short time. The morning after a trip to the pub, where he indulged in snus, his lip was really swollen. After a while it just stopped happening.

happens to me sometimes...not sure I'd call it swelling, and most days my lip is like battered shoe leather and can take pris after pris like nothing, but now and again I get a return-of-the-burn and my inside lip goes like lizard skin :lol: Don't know if anyone else gets this, but some rare and random mornings, eating stuff like toast, for whatever reason, just attacks my throat like razor blades - this sort of puts me in mind of the same sort of thing. Like a weird transient sensitivity or something, who knows. Most days, though, I don't even feel the stuff...weird.

I've never had this problem at all! It may well be because, as you mention, you're fairly new to snussing and that n&j is a high nicotine snus with a noticably harsher 'burn' to it - this extra pH early on in your snussing career (when your inner lip may not have quite turned to mega-tough snusproof leather yet) could well be the cause of your discomfort.

i started snusing a few months ago and so far have not had this problem until today. but this evening my lip swelled up! right in the spot where i had my n&j portion! it's gone back down since, but i'm hoping this doesn't happen again. i enjoy the snus and would rather not have to give it up.
has this ever happened to anyone else?
