    New Snuser looking for input

Hey everyone, I am both new to Snusing and this forum so i'm honored to be part of this community. I was a smoker for roughly 4 1/2 years and recently my smaller town received Camel Snus via our kwik trip stores. Anyway the camel snus works, although i think i am really just looking for an alternative to smoking i would like to purchase snus online. I know what sites to go to, i was just wondering if anyone could give me a good idea of what to start with. Like most people think, there is not enough there when it comes to the camel snus and they are right. I would like to try something stronger at least in the medium range. I smoked Camel Turkish Royals for most of my time being a smoker but i am unsure of the nicotine content in those(i tried googling but failed lol)...Generals seems to be a poster child when it comes to snus but maybe i'm wrong. I have looked around the sites too but being short cash and less hours at work i would like to save myself from buying something i may not like even though i'm not to picky

Thanks guys...also if i am not in-depth about what i may be looking for i like the white pouches with medium nicotine content

from what I have seen, these are the snuses that people buy for an "everyday" snus much like cigs:

    general
    lucky strike
    ettan
    grov

With that said, there is many, many kinds out there and you may find you like something you thought you wouldn't and don't like things you thought you would. I think if you pick one of these(whichever sounds best to you) for a stand-by, and start getting odd-ball tins of other things every now and again, you're off to the right start.

Welcome to the forum Tauri_Stasis, you have come to the right place.

General is just the King of snus. It has about a 70% share of the Swedish market. Swedes are quite different then the American market when it comes to snus, as most people just use the same thing, day after day, year after year.

It is a good starting point though. A few of my favorite, straight tobacco snuses are Pall Mall regular, Retro White, Lucky Strike Whites, and Knox is very good too.

ALL Swedish snus will be way less sweet than the Camel. Camel is just unlike traditional snus. You will also find Swedish snus very salty at first, but this will abate over time as your body gets used to it. After about a month, you will no longer taste the salt much, if at all.

If you look through this thread, you will see what folks top 5 favorites are. We made it to give guidance to folks like you. If you look, you will see some of the same ones coming up frequently, a good place to start.

Welcome to the community! sagedil would probably be able to give you a better complete list to try, but I've found Ettan and Grov to be my two favorites for strait tobacco flavor. General also has high quality snus that's flavorful, but I find the citris flavor in it to be too much for my taste. Ettan and Grov are more mellow and more strait tobacco if that's what you prefer. As you keep buying try out a tin of something new that piques your interest and you should do alright. I think I've only come across one snus I didn't like and know of another I've grown out of.

Edit: Hah, sage, you beat me to it.

hey. welcome. here's my advice: try a can of general and a can of lucky strike to start; lucky strike is salty, general isn't so salty. see which you like better, keeping in mind that your taste will change over time, and then move on to flavors. also, keep in mind that camel snus tastes like candy and swedish snus tastes like tobacco. you'll come to love swedish snus WAY more, but it might shock you a little at first. PEACE

If anyone here thinks they can beat sage they are hitting the snus to hard!

And I almost always will ShaulWolf, I'm famous in these parts, as well as my motorcycle forum, for how fast I will jump to welcome a newbie. Just a role I have been playing a very long time on the internet, dating back to my days on usenet 12 years ago.

                Welcome to the community, Tauri_Stasis.

Considering the flavor of what you used to smoke, I'd direct you to more of the bold, unflavored brands. Maybe something that had "smokey" in the description.

If i remember right, turkish royals were fairly similar to Marlboro #27's which was what i smoked from time to time between menthols.

I have a lot more brands to try yet, but considering how strong those cigs are, you might want to throw in at least one can of the stronger stuff just to see how it sits with you. General Sterk and Skruf Stark are two brands that are a step up from 'regular' portion strength if I'm not mistaken (and quite popular to boot). I'd suggest adding 1 can of either of those to whatever you decide to order. If for no other reason to discern the strength difference.
