Snus Review: Grov Black

Comments: With Grov Portion being my #1, it was difficult for me to go into this one objectively, but I tried. The portions themselves are the 'black' portions you get with General Onyx, but not arranged in the same pretty pattern. The flavor of Grov Black is the real kicker. I found it to be amazing. Definitely a hint of anise at the beginning, but mostly a mellow, smoky, leathery vanilla kind of taste that lasts quite a while. This is nowhere near as salty as original Grov. In the nicotine department, these weigh in heavy at 13mg per portion, but the fact that it's a white portion means that it flows quickly enough to feel it, but slowly enough that it doesn't overwhelm if you're careful not to let it get soaked too quickly. Fellas, I've found my new #1 portion.

The only thing I didn't like was that 2 or 3 times per can, I'd run into a portion that was about half full. Quality Control, Match!! :wink:

Verdict: Nick(and Johnny), Eat Your Hearts Out. 5 stars

This one left me scratching my head for almost a month but really has grown on me. A very nice after-dinner snus.

This is also one that I wasn't sure about but finally learned it is just a couple of times a day snus. I love the flavor, but as an alternative. Not one to do all day. Once I started just having a few tough, I absolutely love it every time.

I was using it for the morning nic hit....the taste was decent, but I got tired of it kind of quick. Better than regular Grov, though.

i too have tried this out just recently and it's definitely one of my favorites (and one of the contenders for my first roll)

Well I stated in another thread that I liked this one. After almost finishing the can I don't really care for it. The nicotine just isn't enough. For the most part I exclusively use strong original portion snus. Though the pouches are really comfortable. The flavor is pretty mild but not bad. I still like Grov los way better! This might be an occasional buy but not by the roll.

Loved the flavor, pouch material is awsome, but really too much nicotine for me. At the end of a full day of snusing (8-10 portions) I was feeling overloaded. I would like this flavor in a regular 8mg nicotine portion.

I have my 1st ever portion of this in now, and I'm on the fence. It's just so different tatsing than any snus I've had before. I'm leaning on not liking it, but not hating it, but then, I don't know....

Sometimes a new snus is just great right away(Gustavus), but this... I feel like I have to ponder it, and think what it is that I am not liking.

It does seem to give a nic hit.

After torturing myself with this for about an hour, I could stand no more, and spit it out, and grabbed this bag of hot and spicy pork rinds to get that wretched taste from my mouth. This is the worst snus I ever had.

Maybe it's this lingering vanilla..... but it's still in my mouth, and gives a sorta numbing like affect to me.

If I remember right, this is the one that actually reminded me of pumpernickel...not a fan of it in bread, but for some reason it was ok in the snus. Go figure! :P

yeah dude, i dunno. i liked it at first, and havent had it in a while, but think i dont really like it anymore as its not something i reach for ever.

I just had to chew on an Altoid, the pork rinds wern't strong enough.
