    Salt content

I did a search which came up with no results, although I figured this would have been asked before.

Does anyone know the average salt content of a portion? I use quite a few a day, and would not be happy if I suddenly started to have high blood pressure

I thought I remembered reading somewhere that it is 3%, which would mean 30mg per 1g portion. But now I cannot seem to find where it said this again, so I am questioning whether I even read it. Thanks!

Snus does have a lot of salt, and can raise blood pressure some. I already had moderately high blood pressure, so I did what any good snuser would do. I started eating better and using no salt (potassium choride) which counters the salt you eat, and doesn't taste any different that salt either. And I started drinking more water. Because I'm not about to quit snusing unless my blood pressure was getting dangerous, but I'm getting things under control now by doing things that I should have done in the first place.

Maybe start adding some nasal snuff in your routine?

Ettan Portions have the lowest salt content, being at 2% per portion. General and Grovsnus have 3%, even though it's a pretty insignificant difference. Avoid loose snus since the salt content is usually 5% per gram.

Did start alternating snus and nasal snuff, but the tobacco also causes higher blood pressure. I mostly avoid the salt and just eat better altogether and it seems to keep things just fine.

Here is the most in depth discussion of salt snuson has probably had, remembered it because it was right around the time I joined.
