I gave up cigarettes (over 2 packs a day) about 5 years ago.
The last couple of years I've messed with cigars and pipes, but was still looking at different things when I came across snus, and snus.com

I ordered a handful of different kinds of snus from buysnus, and have just started trying them.

This look like a great site, with lots of people to learn from.

All suggestions very welcome.

Glad to hear you got into the snus! Out of curiousity, how long did it take you to get your pack? We aren't that far apart, and I was curious with it being Christmas season and all. I figure you ordered pretty recently.

What was in your first order?

Try a variety of snus and find out what you like (it seems you already did this). I would recommend starting out with portions first, and if you're brave enough, try some los varieties. I'm still on the fence between portion and loose snus. I prefer portions when I'm in public because they're easier to insert, remove, and hide. Loose, on the other hand, is easier on the gums (I don't even notice the texture of the snus) and tastes significantly better (the portion material has added chemicals to aid in nicotine absorption, which tastes very pungent).

Anyways, try out several brands. I would recommend anything by Swedish Match or Skruf. I haven't tried any brands like Granit or Offroad, but in my honest opinion, life is too short to use cheap snus! However, some people swear by these brands, and think they are just as good or even better than the premium brands, so try them if you want.

I'll echo snusjus's recommendations and add Röda Lacket and LD White portion to the list. If your interested in trying a lös (loose) vareity, I'd recommend General, Skruf and Göteborg's Rapé. Getting one of the mixed boxes is a great way to start as well.

I've tried the Cassis Menthol, and General.

Many thanks to my local Indian reservation tobacco shop for giving me my first free sample of this strange new thing called snus and Serious Cigars in Champions for stocking General loose and portions and giving me my first taste of the real Swedish deal. That was two on-line orders ago and I haven't had a dip of Copenhagen in a month.

Thanks for this board, as well. I learned much here lurking before taking the plunge and I'm glad I did.
