    GROV svart (black)

This snus is excellent. It's like regular Grov, but a little richer, and a little stronger. Plus, there's a hint of anis. Lovely! I have a new favorite!

I was just about to ask if it was me or was there a hint of anis in Grov Black. Its not a dominant flavor but it seems to be there. I taste a hint of vanilla too. Its good. I have to try a few more to see if I like it enough to make it a staple.

I think Swedish Match must have nailed the perfect dose of anis flavour to create a double-take effect. It's just present enough to make you think of anis, but so subtle as to make you think you might just be crazy and imagining it. I definitely feel less crazy knowing everyone else tastes it too.

Bunch of bloody connoisseurs this place is turning into

Ok this Grov black is really interesting. I have had it a few days and did my third portion tonight. The first portion I didn't get much if any vanilla flavor just a kind of wierd tobacco flavor.

The second portion, I got a wee bit of anise then vanilla.

Now, on this last portion, I got the anise first (very short flavor stage lasting about 6 min) then a VERY nice hit of vanilla that conjured up images of root beer floats or cherry vanilla cokes... Then it was a fabulous flavor of tobacco with some vanilla undertones.. Finally, the flavor started to dissipate after around 35-40 min and a mild bitter flavor came in, not overpowering but it was there. A squeeze on the bag let loose some more of the tobacco / vanilla and the portion was done.

The flavors keep changing and getting more pronounced or wholly different with each stage of flavor. I'm enjoying it more with every portion. Each one is holding some suprising new or more pronounced flavor. Very well done! It's rapidly becoming a favorite! Maybe my #1 if the subsequent portions are as pleasing as this last one.

Is anyone else getting the "flavor stages" or am I off my rocker?

Hmmm, a can of Snus with flavor stages - now that is variety and sounds great :P

I have a can in the frig and will be trying it out within the next few weeks. Swedish Match sent me a free can of it.

I've been a big fan of N&J Original Portions for over a year now, but feel the need for more variety. Of course, Swedish Match has often sent me free cans of stuff (they have pounded me to death with General Wintergreen, which I don't hate but I am not in love with it either).

Swedish Match has nice flavor descriptions. They read as if someone writes them, who takes part in the "design" of the brands and has personally used at least one can of each. I really appreciate their descriptions, they are so much better than the "has a classic taste"-descriptions in most webshops:
            http://www.swedishsnus.com/US/start.asp

I wanted to pass on the new Grov Black since I don't like the original Grov, but reading this thread and reading the description by Swedish Match "full-bodied tobacco taste with a hint of vanilla, leather and anise" makes it a must-try now for me.

            Cheers!

I'd be interested, but it's a damned stark portion. I get enough nicotine from regular snus. I don't need to raise the bar for nicotine dependence. I may end up getting a tin to see what it's about, but I don't see it ever being a regular.

                First post omg 8).

Grov Black is ironically enough, white portion.

Alltho i must say this is one of my favourites.

Normally i use Ettan, subtle and smooth flavour :P

And by the way, americans and other guys, from where do you usually order snus?

Usually Swedish Match, which for the U.S., is at:
                  http://swedishsnus.com/US/start.asp

As far as I know, this is the best deal for someone in the U.S. if they are going to order at least about 10 to 12 cans. Of course, being whom they are, they only sell their own products (or at least mostly), which includes GrovSnus.

                      I'm sure everyone can relate----

I really was not crazy about it the first 10 or so portions, I almost tossed it.

The last half of the can - I will be reordering some.

The verdict is still out on this one as far as I'm concerned. Whereas I immediately loved General Extra and Cla Qui (think I spelled it right) this one is a little different. Not bad IMO by any means but the flavor didn't speak to me right off the bat.

I don't know if it's the extra nicotine talking, but I just killed a can of this stuff and its very tastey. The underlying Grov taste is still there, and the additonal flavors (vanilla, anise ?) all seem to be there in a nice balance, not too over done. I will not buy this by the roll, but I will be including a can or two in my future orders.

p.s. I never buy a roll because of commitment issues, but thats for a different forum.

I opened my can of Grov Svart last night, and I think I figured out the flavor of it. Mix some of this candy with tobacco, and you get Grov Svart.

I think it's quite tasty, but I'm not sure if I'd advertise it as a more "masculine" snus.
