Wow, if it tastes like vanilla and Bilar, I have to get some. Rob, does it have that strange eucalyptus aftertaste that Bilar have, or do you mean just a sweet flavor?

I haven't detected that aftertaste that the candy has. It's really a quite enjoyable flavor.

Well, I just smelled the can, and I thought I detected a hint of menthol, so maybe it does have that flavor too!

Can't wait to try this. I didn't like grov at first but I've almost finished a second can of loose, I may prefer it to ettan due to the coarser grind.

As Starcadia said: if this is anything like Bilar ... man, I gotta try some. Soon!

Bilar is sweet, sweet childhood memories

            Some grov svart facts

According to swedish match this snus is made with swedish match's patented "White technology", even though the paper is black.
The main taste ingredients is: Tobacco (of course) vanilla and anis.
This snus is also stronger than ordinary snus which has a nicotine ammount of 8mg but grov svart is 50% stronger and has 12mg.

Grov Svart tastes exactly like rye bread to me (with aniseed). I don't get much vanilla or Bilar flavor, sadly, but the taste is okay with me.

I am using it right now. My first few portions always seem to be better than the later ones. Still not sure why and I will keep playing with it. But something about the flavor just strikes me as a bit odd??

Yeah, I'm not so sure about it either. I ordered a roll thinking I'd get something that tasted like vanilla, not a sandwich.

Fantastic stuff. I taste vanilla and leather. Roll-worthy for sure. It took me a few portions to warm up to it, but it now holds a place in my top 5.

It's ok....I do taste the vanilla quite a bit, actually. If they ever make it in a regular strength version, I'd actually consider it for daily use, but for the time being it's going to be one of those "every great once in a while" snus for me.

I would pick it over regular Grov any day, though...

I clearly taste the anis and vanilla, but I haven't found the advertised leather-taste yet. I've only used three or four portions since yesterday, so I don't know if it will become a favorite, but it really is a brand that left a very positive first impression. Highly recommended to try.

                          Cheers!

I'm getting used to the flavor. It became clear that the vanilla begins to emerge as the portion starts juicing a little. It's a lot like Onyx that way, where it's all anise at first, but then the juice is a mellow tobacco flavor. It's not my favorite, but it's nice to have as an alternative to N&J and Claq Qui.

I got a can of this in my portion mix. So I leave my portions in for a long time (about an hour or two) and after I had my portions in for a while, I had a familiar taste that I couldn't place for a while. After a few portions it hits me. Skoal Vanilla. Back when I dipped, I got skoal vanilla from time to time, and that's exactly the taste that comes through after an hour. Interesting. Not exactly the manly snus that is advertised, but pretty good nonetheless.

I can't stand Grov white, has that Pickly taste that many said is apparent in Kronan. But not only is the Grov black tolerable...I actually like it, even though I can still taste the dill pickle-ish undertone. Am I alone on this one?
