Ok so I have with me today the general white portion as well as general portion silver.

Am I correct in thinking that portion silver will be somewhere in between white and regular portion?

I LOVE white and HATED the regular portion so maybe I will sort of like silver?

Don't make a mistake, aery, General Silver has less nicotine. It should be an "original" portion just like the regular General.

BTW, I never read a review of General Silver, though the brand is pretty old. It surely has it's fans among all the people who can't stand too much nicotine (which theoretically also includes me - only on a level far above the 6mg in a portion of General Silver).

Just my 2 cents. Someone who has tried General Silver could say more.

      Cheers!

Well, as a pack a day smoker and sometimes a pack a NIGHT when I hit the bars, the nicotine level is not so much the concern, it's the taste and SALT.

I popped one in and could NOT tell the difference between the silver and regular general, so I spit it out and did the unthinkable, got a new one and gave it a quick wet down at the tap to get the majority of the salt out. Popped it in and after a quick leak out it is just like a slightly larger white portion. It's still got the lemony flavor I really like and just a hint of salt and a nice nicotine buzz to it. Goes really well with my herbal tea

            Welcome!

For low salt, try the Probe Whiskey. It isn't a minty one - but it is sweet. It is a love it or leave it type. To me there is very little salt that comes through.

Try what you like and find your style and do your snus the way you want to do your snus. Browse this great forum for questions and answers as they've all been there and have great advice.

Have fun and enjoy your snus.

              aery,

Your sensitivity to the salt is very typical for a new snuser. After about a month, I promise you that you will no longer even notice it.

Be prepared for your tastes to change radically, many, many times the longer you use snus. So snus you absolutely hate today, remember to go back and try it again in a few months. You may very well discover that you suddenly love it now. And snus you love today, one day, you may wake up and suddenly hate it.

It is just the way of the snus....

For me, I had a major changeover about 12 months into using snus. I had been using mostly regular for a long time, and suddenly, all of them were just coming on too strong, and I found myself constantly needing to spit them out. I have largely switched over to mostly all whites now, and am much, much happier.

Now tomorrow, that may change.

Since you like the General White, may I suggest you try Retro White. I think you might like that one a lot too!!

Aery, how close to the stringy-thing in the middle of your top lip are you placing the snus? A lot of first timers place the portions too far back towards the cheek IMO and experience the drips.

good observation Stewie. Heres a suggestion, everytime I put in a portion I put it in a different location [in my mouth [[not my ass lol]]. It goes left or right on the top between the little hangy down thingie and way off to the side. This keeps having one area of the gums from getting irritated and spreads out the wear and tear on the gums and teeth. Off to the side a bit helps hide the pouch also.
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

I actually have a very very small mouth (for a loudmouth) and cannot actually FIT a snus in my mouth unless it is over in my cheekspace. If I try to put it in front at all it's half over my teeth and obviously shows something fierce even if I keep my mouth closed

Flattest snus that you can squash up there are IMO Granit and Retro.

And for whatever it's worth, my "normal" place for MY snus over the past 20 months is pushed way back.. The end is almost at my molars. This has just always been the most comfortable spot. I know I am SUPPOSED to have it in closer to the front, but I have just never likes that position.

And I have not really ever experienced any more runs. (gee, that sounds good...LOL)

Does anybody know the name of that stringy thing? I can't find shit on google and it's really annoying me not knowing!
