    "Klondike Snus Pouches"

I got a couple of free tins of this (wintergreen, and peppermint blast) when I last bought some General at my local tobacconist. Way too much flavoring for me and if I remember correctly, the tobacco was pretty sub-par. I definitely wouldn't recommend it, glad I got to try it for free.

I did a search on Klondike and found the article below. It is written by the staff from a site called "snuscentral". I don't know anything about the site so take it for what its worth but the review seemed helpful and so I thought I would pass it along.

Let me add that as an x-dipper, I remain EXTEMELY skeptical of anything produced by an American tobacco manufacturer (or better- by American tobacco manufacturing standards). For those who have never used dip- dip and snus are NOT (I repeat they are NOT) the same thing. As passionate as many on the forum are about leaving cigarettes behind, I am equally as passionate about leaving dip behind. If you are interested on the differences between dip and snus and why I left dip for snus, I wrote a post about it a while back on the forum called “A Dippers Guide to Snus”. I will spare you all the details but if you are interested you can read the post here.

That said, here is the Review of Klondike:

Nordic American Smokeless is the former Taboca AS division for the United States.

Their Brands are Klondike snus and Nordic Ice snus. Nordic American product is something of a mystery at this point. Their original press releases insisted it was going to pasteurized, made to strict Swedish standards, and the importance of low TSNA's was emphasised strongly.

As of December 2008, Nordic now states they don't pasteurize their snus but use a "similar" heat process. They describe it as " The Swedish Snus Process" which they define on their website as "The Swedish Snus Process is a heat treated manufacturing process similar to pasteurization that enhances taste, quality, freshness, and satisfaction, and is the latest cutting-edge technology in the U.S.". Klondike and Nordic Ice do not have to be refrigerated.

Klondike is available as a loose and pouch snus and targeted towards American Chew and Dip users. Nordic Ice is available in pouch form only and quietly positioned as a Snus product. Both Nordic Ice and Klondike are manufactured at the Swisher Factory in West Virginia.

Pouches for both products are described as "Traditional American Sized". What that means is unknown. Nordic American Executives also refuse to disclose either the nicotine or TSNA levels of either brand which is somewhat troubling.

It remains to be seen of either Klondike or Nordic Ice are true Reduced Harm Tobacco products. It remains to be seen what is in them at all. Until they reconsider or are required by FDA, you are putting an unknown substance in your mouth with both products.

Klondike is available in Fine Cut, Long Cut, and Pouches. Nordic Ice is available in pouch-form only.

Well, my cans should be here anytime, maybe today. I'll give a good review of each and take pics. It was my 1st order from Notherner too.
