Possibly due to extra steps in manufacturing? Whites are dryer the regulars so that may ad more production time and steps this equals more production cost.

As far as I know, White has one less step in the process. Original gets a tobacco juice wash as the last step that White does not get. So that's one less step. Yet it is more expensive...good question...

In my experience more variables go into pricing than production costs alone. Packaging, marketing, distribution, supply costs, and various factors of overhead etc.

The main factor I suspect that is in play is demand. Apparently white portions are more popular than regular ones.

Therefore the price is dictated by what the market will bear. Companies are continually pushing the limit to find the balance between consumer's preferences and the premium they're willing to pay to aquire it.

LOL, honestly, I don't really care. Just what happens when one is bored out of one's mind at 4:30 in the morning and can't sleep. I have over 80 tins of snus in the freezer, and I am spending time wandering through buysnus.

Yeah, I really do need to get a life.

But still an interesting question that has never been discussed here.

Sagedil I have always wondered the same thing, especially when you look at the price and quantity difference going from los, to portions, to whites, to minis. Bakerbarber is probably right demand is the key, whites and minis are more marketable to the newer younger users. Still you need to lay off the Elxyr Snus late at night if these mysteries of the universe are keeping you up that late

I do NOT use any Elyxr except in the morning. In fact, I have cut my caffeine intake way down. I have just always been a night owl. Almost all of my jobs over the past 13 years have been swing shift. It's just if I am not careful and managing it, I can keep pushing my bedtime later and later. For whatever reasons, I don't seem to like to let go at night.

It really has been an issue as long as I can remember. By my second semester at Berkeley, I wasn't going to sleep until about 5AM every night. Was just easier to study when the entire dorm was asleep. I had to work hard to get up before they stopped serving lunch.

And Xobeloot, now that would be really sad wouldn't it.

Don't worry, as soon as Baby gets her 8000 km checkup, 'm coming down to Savannah to bug you.

Sagedil, just kidding on the Elyxr I have a lot of sleeping problems my self, and none of the sleeping pills they will let me have work. Currently have a doctor that got me to stop using the computer late at night and has me using a SAD therapy light for about a half an hour every morning after I wake up. Seems to be helping a bit but haven't been doing it long enough to know for certain. I used to work night shift several years ago and guess I never did adjust back to "normal" Drives me nuts sometimes sitting up well past midnight wide awake knowing I have to get up at five. I'll be dead on my feet all day then wide awake again the next night, hope the light thing keeps working figured I would through it out there if you have never tried or heard of it.

Wow, I think we are in similar boats. I too worked third shift many, many years ago, Between 19 - 21 and then when I was 30. I know that using the computer late at night definitely makes it much harder to get to sleep. The bright light messes with your body's sleep cycle rhythms. I have found that if I read for an hour before bed, it helps. But I get so into reading, I can read all night. I have been that way since I was a kid.

Let me know how the light therapy works. It really does suck, Right now, I don't have to be up early, so I am now locked into a habit of sleeping until 2:00 PM. I have to break this. But even if I get up at 5 AM, and am tired ALL day, I too will still be wide a wake the next night.

I have managed to fix this before. It takes much effort, and is very slow, but I know it can be done. Just seems to keep coming back if I don't force myself to keep going to sleep at the right time. Like it is just my bodies natural way that I have to fight

Oh, and sleeping pills don't work for me either. They do make me feel like crap the next day, but they don't let me fall asleep any sooner. Long ago gave up on them.

I'm in the same boat, with computer usage, it really can keep you up... which is why the dim, natural-like nighttime environments in World of Warcraft may be just what you need! Raid and quest some more!

In all seriousness, though - I find the best way to be sure I get up before noon is to make sure I have something that's motivating me to be interested in what I have to do. If I wake up and hate my work and am not looking forward to the day, it's always difficult to get up when the alarm goes off in the morning, if not impossible!

Getting back to the topic, I would agree that the white portion does seem to be perceived as a more... casual or clean portion? And setting the price a tad higher most likely just reinforces that notion.

LOL, well, as you can see, it's almost 3:30 AM. I am just not gonna go to sleep at all tonight, I will probably try and get about 3 hours sleep in the morning, and then hopefully, get to sleep at a normal time tomorrow night, I have something I desperately want to do Saturday morning, so need to fix this soon.

And getting back on topic myself, sort of. All I know is after about 14 months of snus usage, I started really getting overwhelmed with flavors just coming on too strong. I have largely switched to using whites, except for Knox and N&J. I like the slower, more muted flavors and really don't mind paying a bit more. I still am saving like 70% from when I used to smoke to packs of cigarettes a day.

Maybe they're charging by the amount of time you can enjoy a portion for :P
