Sköljer mitt ansikte i iskallt vatten.
This is the end of snusande as we know it, som en person på Swedish Match konstaterade, fast på svenska.

Beautiful! Totally agree. But it seems like this is false alarm:

Google translated site (may be totally crazy):

"Recently, screamed a headline that the EU was thinking prohibit snus in Sweden, "in disguise" (Aftonbladet 19/4). Other media hanging on, politicians of various shades promised to fight for snuff, a responsibility center communications director prophesied a blow for the "whole portfolio", and angry and desperate snuff filled the gaps and comment fields.

First, the evening took an alert journalist contact with those responsible in Brussels to get the facts. The answer? No, there is no decision, not even a suggestion, that "sly way" prohibit snus in Sweden. They discuss the regulation of additives in tobacco products (mainly cigarettes) of a similar nature that are already in the U.S., where "Swedish" snus, although this is still being sold freely."The data must have its source in Sweden," said EU spokesman politely.
In plain language: it was a homemade canard that splashed in the Swedish dam."

I know its been suggested many times but why don't the snus manufacturers give the EU the middle finger by labelling the exact same product as nasal snuff.

They could easily turn the tables on the politicians by doing just that, there'd be no way of differentiating between snus and moist dark snuff and there's no way they could stop it being used orally. If they were to do that their products would be legal to sell in EU countries and I'm sure their profits would sky rocket.

The only problem I can see with that is some people might actually try to use it like snuff, would that be a problem?

Yeah, but I'm still not convinced. Still great if it was false alarm. Swedish Match took it seriously though.

Also the rest of the article is very negative against the Swedish snus lobby. It says that the lobby is contra-productive and that we should respect the european snus ban.

100% Agree and the list continues .... The worst there is to the EU that it's good only for 2% of the population (that means the leaders, the ones that make the laws in their favor)

I'm pretty much convinced that in 1989 when the Revolution came and the communist party was destroyed in Romania, people were doing better on all given levels.

The revolution should start now because it's even worse for the majority, and why suffer for the few?

The problem is even worse for our brothers in Republic of Moldavia, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Yugoslavia and all the balkan countries, we're standing above most of them.

In Romania there are people unemployed that had to cut out the electricity and water and heating to their one room apartments, have no money for food and so on and so on ... and seemingly EU does nothing to protect these poor guys that were less fortunate to live a normal life.

There is a way out, but people that live in poverty don't have any type of education so imagine that most of them either live in poverty or just start stealing and going into the black markets.

That's what EU wanted, in fact I am not amazed because it's one of Hitler's dreams.

Where there's many - there's power - that's why all the bastards teamed up to become "MORE BASTARDS".....

I live in country that's a member of EU and they don't even care or know how to put a proper diagnose on a seemingly serious illness, I live in a country where I have to find my own way in life on my own (actually being pushed into doing everything myself) because no one is there to offer protection of any kind. Where the average salary can not even pay the groceries..... most people are pushed into finding another way.....

EU sucks on all levels, but let's start sending letter to the EU council - at least bring some awareness.

I'll send one in today ;-)

                    who's next?

All the big companies such as northerner and all the others should do the same one thing, at least bring some awareness, even if we don't do anything about it then at least we have tried .....

April 25, 2012 is tomorrow. It is when SnusWorldWide trial takes place in Sweden... Northerner said in their facebook page they would await the outcome and decide whether to continue Sweden to EU sales or close the shop.
I placed an order with snus2.se in the morning. It ships today. Better safe than sorry.

Does anyone else look in the calendar?

I did give a heads up in the other EU ban thread about the date, i've not placed an order because i've not got any cash to spare. I've got enough to last me a good few months, but if it does go tits-up, i guess i'm screwed like the rest of the EU

This is a big deal with implications beyond the EU. Were the EU to lift the ban, it would give weight to American Harm Reduction campaigns

If they clamp down........it will make things tighter all around

My guess is the status quo

I've prepared. If it's banned I've got 2 weeks off in May booked especially to give up. If it isn't banned - it's still a bonus.
