Lucky Strike Original Portion

I finished my can of Lucky Strike Original Portions, and I really enjoyed them. However, my tounge feels "burned out" from the saltyness. Anyone ever experience this?
BTW, I am now using Gotlands Green.

Yeah, I really, really liked the Lucky Strikes, but the saltiness made it a bit too much. I then tried the Lucky Strike Whites, and they have become my favorite snus. Same great flavor, but the saltiness is muted.

Apparently the South African version has been reformulated as many survey participants found it too salty. I like the saltiness and have not had any issues with it. The problem I find with Lucky Strike portions is they seem to get slippery and slide out of place.

I have some in the fridge that I got from SA...will take it out and try it this week to see if it is really that different .....when did they change it?

Also they are white portions so they may be less salty to start off as Sagedil said...

The SA one is much sweeter like the Canadian and Japanese (now cancelled) BAT offerings - tailored to markets where the tastes are not as salty as the Swedish one.

They appear to be trrying to get snus to work outside of sweden while maintaining a standard product for the 'home' market.
They haven't gone as far on sweetness outside of sweden as the RJR and Philip Morris US versions tho which is a relief! Interesting that PM have produced a 'normal' product for the highly rated 1847 offering - haven't ordered any yet as my stocks are high!

It'll be interesting to see if the BAT/F&L merger has any effect on tastes if it goes ahead?

I agree about the saltiness. I also think that there is too much smoke flavor added, at least thats what I think they are going for.

I find it strange that they had to change the salt content. I grew up in SA and one thing I know is that people there love salt.

Especially salty snacks like biltong (similar to beef jerky)

Are the Luckies that much saltier than General or Knox?

This is my favorite portion.

I really like the salt. It has a nice burn that reminds me of dip.

The taste is very pronounced to me as sharp tobacco. I never tire of it. Goes great with Coors Light watching the Tigers.

Toasted hazelnut with a hint of cardboard. I still quite like the stuff though.

Yes, I know exactly what you are talking about. I too use LS white portions now.

I already posted this in the "snus exchange" to no avail, but I have two sealed tins of Lucky Strike regular portions in my freezer. If someone wants to throw a few bucks my way or trade for them, pm me.

Expiration date is August 3, 2008.

Five bucks or a tin of Skruf los, Roda Lacket los, Ettan white or los, Nick and Johnny or whatever you may have and they are yours.

IMO Lucky Strike tastes a lot like Nick and Johnny minus the subtle licorice flavor and with more liquid smoke.
