Advice please! How to become a löser?

So, I’ve been snusing for a while, and I feel I’m ready to try with lös.
A snuser friend of mine from Norway told me I should start with Roda Lacket. But I’m not really fond of licorice; I don’t hate it (like anis which I can’t stand) but I’m not crazy about it either.
Also, with the portions I discovered that what I love is actually salty, citrus, peppery etc. Yeah I love general, and I hate that happens: I wanted to feel “special” with “strong personality” (a little bit like Xobeloot and his love for phantom blue that no one else seems to understand), but no: seems that I love what everyone else love: the popular snus that most Swedish consume  lol
Should I go with general or is it too strong or to hard to keep it in place? I’m getting a prismaster as well.. what is the best lös to start [that is not too sweet]? Is Roda L the “starting with lös” snus?

Being relatively new to snus in general, I'm probably not the best person for advice but i have only recently delved into the world of los, starting with General.
Same as you I am particularly partial to it in portions so thought how much more different could it be. I have to say that with General los after watching Zero's video i now can keep it firm enough after my third try that it'll last for over an hour, it isn't particularly hard, just getting the knack of it.
Seeing as you like the flavour the most I'd say go with General, as you've not got a new taste to adjust to as well as the los you'd have with trying Roda, but rather just a new technique. My experience has done nothing but improved since i bought my first can of general.
    Just my opinion ...

    Hope that made sense

Roda Lacket seems to be the de facto starting los for the following reasons:

1.) Bakability - Roda lacket is rather fine ground and moist, this makes forming a pris with the hand or a tool remarkably easy.

2.) Flavor - Rodal Lacket is mellow and mildly sweet, so even if bits break off they're relatively inoffensive.

Other Starting Lossnus I'd reccomend is:

Ettan los - For those who like straight forward tobbaco flavor.

Goteborgs Prima Fint - Another fine ground snus with a mellow flavor, not as sweet as Roda Lacket, ultra-fine grind means that you must treat the pris rather gently once it is in or it will have a tendency to turn to "mud".

Skruf Stark Los - If you need the nicotine, the flavor is excellent, the grind is on the coarser side, but the moisture level is rather high and it's fairly easy to bake.

General Los/Granit Los/LD Red los - All are good snus with similar flavor profiles and fairly easy to bake and manage.

Los Snus I would avoid for the beginner -

Gotlands los varieties - these are incredibly flavorful but the coarseness of the grind makes baking and managment quite difficult.

Montechristo Los - too expensive for "experimenting" and the flavor can hit you a bit hard if bits start breaking off. However it's bakability is pretty high.

Latina, just my opinon but I do love Roda Lacket and to be honest I know the description says licorice but I cannot tasti it, may just be me. You may want to try Kronan, it is a little more grainy than the Roda Lacket but I do remember a nice citrus falvor to it. I also have not heard much bad about Montecristo, it bakes well, but it is a bit more for less snus

Roda has a very subtle flavour, I cannot taste the licorice in it (which is good for me). Bakeability is almost like clay. However, my gums and lips don't like it, they feel sore after one pris. I would recommend either:

Ettan - straight tobacco flavour, leathery and smokey
Grov - a little hint of bergamot
General - more citrus and bergamot
Skruf - subtle flavour and decent nicotine content

All of them are pretty easy to bake and make a good allday snus.

My personal favorite and all time winner:

Landstroms - pure tobacco, dark soil, a tiny bit of bergamot and an undertone of vanilla.
For me this is snus-heaven on earth. However you need a lot of patience to bake it but with a prismaster it is no problem at all. Unfortunately, it is only available at Northerner.

Doh! Zeno, I saw your post after posting mine (and the snus order). I fell in love with your description of Landstroms, mhm ÑAMI!! :-)
anyway.. I bought some RL, and I'll practice with it. If it goes well I will see with the rest (guess that starting with those landstroms!)

Landströms is nice, but I'd probably say it's likely the worst loose snus to try as a first loose. The flavour is very unique, the texture is unlike almost any other loose snus, and it's not very user-friendly when it comes to keeping your pris under any sort of control. It's a very aquired taste and it's not very similar to any other loose snus at all. Göteborgs Rapé is a nice one to try if you're after spicy, peppery, etc. 8)

Funny, I had no idea Röda Lacket was supposed to have a licorice flavor, because for the last week or so I've been enjoying it a lot, and I haven't noticed it. I think it's a good bet for a first loose snus.

General was my first loose, and I liked the flavor and the loose experience a great deal compared to portions. Still, I only do it privately. One of these days I'm going to experiment with a small pinch in public, maybe with Skruf Stark loose.

I didn't like the ONYX so much because of the white portion and what I consider a very strong licorice flavor.

I ordered a can of Goteborgs Rapé loose yesterday, and am looking forward to trying it. The portion is decent.

Well for what I've reading and all your great advices, I think I'll have to practice my way up to Landströms and Gotlands Gul Lös! Maybe we should try a lös ranking.. something like:

Suitable for beginners: Roda Lacket, Göteborgs prima fint?

                        Medium difficulty?

Only for Pros: Gotlands Gul, Landströms..

I received my first can of los yesterday. General los to be specific. I have too many portion tins open at the moment but I will get around to trying it soon. I don't think I need a tool yet, should be fine just handbaking it.

I've read many posts here, which are saying that Landstroms is only for the pros, but Landstroms worked for me right from the beginning. It was the second loose snus I've tried (after Roda Lacket) and I fell in love instantly. No taste to aquire or any mud-mouth experience, just pure pleasure. I've already ordered a roll of it and just the thought that I could run out of it creates panic in me . Landstroms must have been invented by the norse gods itself, it's snus-heaven on earth. Probably I've got a strange taste. However, not weird enough to like Phantom

I have to disagree with allegations that RL and Prima Flint are the best Los brands for beginners. While these bake extraordinarily easily, they tend to fall apart more easily than any other. Latina, I would advise you to buy a Prismaster and start on something semi-coarse -- General would be a great choice, as would Knox. Neither of these snusses have so much as a trace of sweetness.
