    issues with swedish match

I've been snusing heavily for about a year now and i realized that swedish match products started to cut up/irritate my gums when used really heavily ...i never noticed this when i first started....but when i started hitting over 20 portions a day it is at the point that i dread sm....no i do not have anything to do with other companies....however i use knox as my daily snus and even though 30+ portions i get it slightly....its still much less than swedish match which screws my gumms up almost like timberwolf(which i never use)

    note i only use portions.

Go to the pharmacy and get yourself a bottle of listerine and a bottle of gly-oxide. They will help to remove the dead/irritated tissue.

I cannot say that I see it as being as much a link to SM products as it is to using a rather large number of portions (which leads me to think that you swap them regularly every 30-45 min or so constantly having a fresh/scratchy portion in). Do you use white portions? Whites would be even more scratchy than original portions.

Funny that I've found just th eopposite, the roughest on my gums has been knox, while I've never experienced any irritation from Swedish Match or F&L products...

I think this is caused by the portion pouches no matter who makes them. I've began using loose when at all possible because of this very issue, and using the loose has made a dramatic difference for me. I have very little to no irritation from the loose.

Ah, I should have clarified, I was referring to loose varieties.

This could also vary from day to day. I also have days where I think that a certain brand is harsh on my gums, but it's always over the next day. BTW, 30 portions on one day are maybe a bit too much. Not the nicotine but the salt. The portions get less salty (thereby less irritating for the gums) and still release enough nicotine, when you keep them longer. I keep loose snus and portions for two hours on average. And to second RPatrick, loose snus is much easier on the gums also from my experience.

            Cheers!

It's not like snus or anything else that you keep in your mouth constantly isn't going to have some effect on the mouth's surfaces.

If I chew a piece of gum too long, it starts having ill effects.

I would recommend keeping a portion in for a longer duration at a time. It seems to me that once the portion is saturated, it's softer, like loose.

Just the thought of constantly switching a portion, right about the time where it becomes nice and adjusted to your mouth to a new one makes my gums bleed.

I occasionally use my lower lip when I'm not concerned with discretion just to give the uppers a break. For these instances, I'll use two or three portions at once and have a spitter, but use it much less frequently than when I dipped.

Go loose, not near the irritation

portions have a greater irritating tendency, I agree.
But the worst tthing is dry loose, specialy general, it burns like the
                  fires of hell. IME

but switching to loose should solve the problem, but I whould
drop the quantities, 20 portions a day is quite a bit.

Wow, I have never had this problem at all in my 14 months of snusing. Guess I should just consider myself lucky

It's the bag. The pouch material. I'd like to see that acetate under a scanning electron microscope. Prolly looks like 120 sandpaper
I've NEVER had any problems with lös.
