    expired general los

I have a roll of general los left over.. its expired for a bit over one year and to be honest it's completely a mess..

i opened a can two days ago and it's already dry.. dry like the desert sand .. theres no difference..

a good lesson learned .. seems as snus doesnt last that much even if its deep frozen.

Add a bit of water. I have paperboard tin lös that I've had for over a year,, and it's all pretty good. Some of it has gotten a little dry, but a bit of water picks it back up again. I don't regret getting it at all, and will do it again if a good deal presents itself :^)

me too.. i think all general los tins are paperboard and i think theyre still paperboard

i wont throw it away thats for sure but i will rehydrate them with apple juice (water is pretty bad here by the black sea) and the bottled one also changea the taste of los

natural apple juice seems the best soo far

offroad and odens los for example seems to last longer than a year

One thing to consider with apple juice is sugar, and acid. It might not be enough of a quantity to really make a difference but that's a concern I'd have. If you have a poor water supply, a solar still is easy to make, and for snus quantities of water, practical to apply.

          what is a solar still?

btw i was referring to fresh homemade apple juice (no sugar)

coffee is great to rehydrate snus but then again it slightly changes the aroma lol

I think you could just boil a pot of water and collect the run off steam since you would not need much at all.. The steam is pure distilled water isn't it?

abw im afraid you might be wrong

the steam would be where all the impurities, salt or chlorum is..

and the boiled water would be the one to be used.. but even if i boil the water it still has a weird taste

ABW's got it. Salts and stuff would be left in the water, and the steam should be pure for all intents and purposes. VOCs will collect in the steam, but those will be the first things to cook off. You could start the process, and after a couple minutes of steaming, then start to collect it.

A simple solar still for survival application consists of 2 containers, one smaller in diameter than the other. In the larger of the 2, you place the contaminated water. The smaller container goes inside of that, and you put a piece of plastic wrap loosely over the whole thing, with the edges weighted down. Put a small rock or something in the center to make the plastic cone shaped, and as the sun heats the water, it'll collect on the plastic, then drip into the smaller empty container.

For real survival situations, you can omit the container of contaminated water, and the rest will draw moisture from the ground that you can collect. Course it doesn't work so good on cloudy days :^D

                  that's actually not true.

Water vapor is practically pure water, anything that was in the water solution and can't turn into gas at or below 100 degrees celsius is left in the liquid water.

Edit: why not try bottled water

then why do they say to boil the water or milk before feeding a baby?
yep but bottled water still changes the taste of los.. the best so far has worked with apple juice or just placing a piece of apple in the can

That's to kill any bacteria/viruses present. Otherwise boiling stuff for a baby doesn't do anything.

Btw, re apple. That has a fairly high amount of sugar naturally, as well as an acidic ph. Again, I don't know if the quantities involved would change the snus too much, but it is something to consider. I definitely wouldn't add fruit to snus I didn't use often. It could end up being a breeding ground for nasties. If I wasn't going to use up a tin of snus in a few days, I wouldn't use fruit.

If you boil the water and then collect the steam after about five min you will have 100% pure distilled water. I might be wrong but I don't think it gets much cleaner that that.. You could do it with salt water(the reason they don't is cost) and it would still be pure water after turned to steam..

It's not hard.. Just hang the lid off the pot a little and let the steam collect and drip into a cup.. In no time you will have perfectly clean water..

i'll try the distilated water technique

lx, btw i dont use apple either if I dont consume the can in a few days (i rehydrate only one can at the time)

I think they shold have distilled water in pharmacies at least (for those that don't want to bother to distill water)

Apple overall works best if you place a small piece of apple inside the can (roughly 1 cubic centemeter) and pull it out after 24 hours to avoid bacteria growing on it)

Otherwise just use plain juice from an apple ..

                          :^)

Here is how I do it...I go to the grocer or fruit stand and look through all the apples. Then I find one, usually a Gala type that is a bit mushy. Then I put it back down and walk over to the juice aisle and grab a container of 100% apple juice

                              Sorry, I couldn't help myself
