When I bake snus I just take a pinch with my thumb and forefinger. Using the thumb and forefinger of the other hand I mold it gently into a cylinder. I then clean up the ends and pop it in. It takes me maybe ten seconds to go from can to mouth....less if I hillbilly it...more if I am drunk.

I used a prismaster for about 6 months as I was mostly using portions with just a little los. Not the best tool but better (for me, anyway) than trying to hand bake. When I was certain los was for me I ordered an icetool. Pricey but well worth it. Won't get lost as I use portions when outside so the tool stays in one place.

I never had any issues with hand baking, I pretty much mastered it after like the 4 try, now its just second nature, if Im busy or talking to someone, I dont even look at the pris while Im baking it. The only time I could see using a tool as helpful is at work or out somewhere where I wouldnt want to get my hands dirty.
Icetool does have some nice looking stuff though, but if I buy anything it would be the slim snus tin.

Here is a section from the dipper's Guide to snus that I thought might be of help.
You can find the original here http://www.snuson.com/forum/showthre...-to-Snus/page6

The quoted section below is a post from another thread that I thought might be of help. It describes how to get a pris into your mouth without it breaking up. It is a simple one hand (actually just two fingers) one motion method that keeps the pris from being squeezed (and thus breaking up) as you try to get it in. After the quoted section, I try to add some clarification.

How do I stick it in?!?!?! (haha, I know)
I just lead in with the back of outside finger that is holding the pris- using the back of the finger to push the lip out of the way as I go. Also, I begin with my finger on the back of the mouth- where top and bottom lips meet when the mouth is open (not right where I am putting the pris). This makes it easier to catch the lip and slide the pris up into place while keeping the lip out of the way.
I have no idea if this makes any sense but I hope it will help.
1. Hold the pris between two fingers
2. Open your mouth and hold the pris above your tongue
3. Now move your fingers with the pris to the left or to the right
4. Your outside finger will hit the side of your lip/mouth
5. push/stretch the lip out a bit with the back of the finger
6. slide your finger up, around the inside of the lip until it is where you want the pris to go
7. put pris in place, remove fingers, and adjust with tongue to preference
Important: a big advantage of this method is that there is no need to grip the pris tightly and thus break it up as you struggle to get it in. Therefore, it is important to remember to relax, hold the pris lightly, and let the back of your finger clear the way in a single natural motion
.
If you are trying out los you might want to browse through the Dipper's Guide. It is about all things los and has a lot of good info from a lot of folks.
Anyway keep us postedWhen it's my time to go, I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like my uncle did....... Not screaming in terror like his passengers

I usually just put the prilla on my tongue and quickly tuck it into my lip. If I try to stick it into my lip with my fingers it falls apart on me. I've even had some luck just taking a rough pinch and packing it into my lip with my tongue (had to be quick as I was driving, hahah).

allright thanks guys i think im gonna make another attempt at loose tonight, i gave one of my buddys (that dips grizzly green longcut religiously) a pinch of loose snus. he just grabed it outa the can, i informed him that might be a bad chioce but of course he thinks of it like dip and didnt worry about it, so he just shoved it up in his top and it was all good for about 2 minutes then i looked over and the whole pinch had just spread everywhere over his mouth and he was spittin it out everywhere haha
