Swedish Match claims V2 snus is poor quality

By the way, this had me thinking: if Swedish Match wants to compete with v2, why don't they release a super-value brand? Kronan is supposed to be a second-tier brand for Swedish Match, yet the difference in price is not that great. I would suggest Swedish Match to launch a cheap brand with minimalist packaging and low-tier tobacco, and charge it at a competitive price (~$22.00 per roll). If they figure out how to cut costs for manufacturing a budget brand, they would be able to compete with v2, without resorting to fear-mongering.

They might be constrained by Swedish taxes. I don't know how it compares to Denmark, but they may be priced as low as can be reasonably expected.

Amen. The small difference in bacteria levels are probably nothing to worry about. However, I'm not a fan of v2; the tobacco quality is low but can be a good compromise when on a budget. It's like comparing craft beer to Natural Light -- the difference in quality is apparent, but they both get the job done.

are you really sure that V2s tobacco quality is low? I mean, V2 could use superior tobacco and probably does. It would make sense if they did. We just don't know tho.

There are so many varieties in tobacco that can make a big difference in taste.

I believe V2 uses quality tobacco for a simple reason it doesn't cost more, 1lb of american tobacco is around 2 dollars a pound to the tobacco companies air cured is cheaper than average and foreign high quality tobacco is cheaper still, V2 could pay like 2 dollars a pound tops and get probably 14oz of usable leaf after stemming and removing tobacco dust, a can of thunder has 8-11grams of tobacco or so (snus is half water, 30-40 percent tobacco, 10-20 percent salt and flavoring/preservatives so you could make 30 cans for 2 dollars easily(at least in terms of tobacco cost). I think 2 dollars is about fair since it costs probably about a dollar to make a can in terms of operating, employees, utilities, rent, etc. less if you make huge amounts. Swedish match throws out a fair amount of snus and tobacco so they could charge more but I'd say 2.50 a can is more reasonable (this might be what they charge actually northerner and buysnus have to mark up the price.)
