Arbor Brewing Cask Porter and 2 Portions of Gen..life's good

I’m in snus limbo, awaiting my package from buysnus. All I had left is a can of Tre Ankare white portions which to me, taste like military issue toilet paper biscuits (I took artistic license with the simile). Thanks to a fellow member here, I was told of a place that sells snus here in Michigan.

Off to Mason Edwards Tobacconist in Ann Arbor I went. They sell General Portions and Los. The dude working there was super friendly, even offering me a sample portion. On the way home, I hit up Arbor Brewing for a Gallon of their porter to go.

Yeah buddy, this is livin’…sippin’ on porter fresh from the cask with two portions of General.

You Brits have it made, surrounded by real cask ale.

mmmm. I havent had a good cask-kept porter since I left Tampa. Bar I used to go to had the cask in the basement and had a hand pump that would bring the beer up to the 2nd floor bar to a gooseneck spigot. im very jealous of you right now.

Funny, I've done this on several occasions after work. Just substitute their IPA for the porter.

This is the same place that gave me the rest of their loose supply (6 tins) after I bought three tins of portions and one loose. They said they weren't selling.

Did you happen to see if they still carried loose?

If you're really into good beer, you might want to try brewing your own sometime. You can make incredibly good beer, for next to free, with 1-5 hours of effort per batch (depending on whether you start with a sack of barley, or use grain extracts).

Funny you mention that, I'm going full grain next batch! I'm kind of going through a mead stage right now though. Your a fellow homebrewer and snuser! Cant beat that!

The next to free part I have to beg to differ a little....I've been eye'n a conical..i'm always buying beer brewing stuff.

Haha mead is freakin' great! Gotta love that incredible honey aroma...

What's your first all-grain batch going to be?

As for the next-to-free thing, I mean that it only costs a few bucks per case in ingredients. Equipment can add more, but it averages out to zero if you brew infinitely much beer

It's possible to put together a pretty capable all-grain system without spending much money using things like turkey fryers and coolers. I think the most expensive item I actually bought is the wort pump (one of those March magnetic impeller things). I will admit that I wish I had the conical tanks, though.

Vårgårda Skog is a pretty good snus out of JTI.
