Newbie to snus, quick quesion...

Well I tried loose for the first time. It was a both a success and a disaster. I opened up the gottland yellow and made a nice looking pris using the prismaster. It looked great. I went to shape it a little in the palm of my hand, and the second my finger touched it, it crumbled into dust. I kept trying to form it back into a pris and it just fell around like loose dirt. I decided to go to the faucet and drip drops of water on it, then when it was more moist I was finally able to mold it into a pris. It looked and felt so gross, since I've never touch loose tobacco except for pipe tobacco before. I hurried and shoved the thing in to give it a shot. It tasted great! It stayed in place pretty well...for the first 15 minues. After that the stuff was all over my mouth. I had to rinse my mouth out with water, it was so awkward and nasty. In retrospect, those 15 minutes I spent were more enjoyable that the hours I spent with my portions. It tasted so good! Any recommendations as to making the pris stay together better?

Practice. It takes time to learn how to handbake. I had 2 prillas crumble on me the first time, but the third was a success.

Pick up the Prismaster. Go to the kitchen. Open the door under the sink and drop in trash. Drive or walk to drug store and buy a couple ordinary 3ml syringes--no bigger. Cut off needle end with box knife and dress any sharp edges. Place open end on table and push plunger all the way down. Push safety pin in plunger shank so that plunger does not go farther than end of syringe barrel. Pull plunger back to .5ml position. Poke syringe into loose snus until full. Put end of syringe on inner can lid and apply moderate pressure. Flick off any stray bits of loose that stick to outside of syringe barrel. Pull upper lip open just to the side of center. Put syringe into upper lip and inject pris. A slight poke with the tongue is permissible to initially position pris but otherwise leave alone as much as possible. Enjoy enjoy enjoy.

Press hard when compressing the pris if the Gotlunds is still giving you trouble.

Thanks for the replies! I'm having difficulty understanding what you mean about the safety pin regulating the plunger. Could you maybe make a graphic demonstrating it? Maybe it will be easier to visualize once I pick up a syringe.

Yeah it'll be obvious. Could be any sort of pin but a safety pin has nothing sharp to git 'cha.

I went to cvs and all they had were 1ml and 5ml syringes By the way, I see what you mean now about the pin!

Well phooey. Try a Walgreens if you have one in the area or a Walmart pharmacy failing that. I found mine at Walgreens for 30 cents a pop. Still using the first one I converted over two months ago.

I'll give it a shot tomorrow. I took the 5ml since she let me have it for free, and tried it but the pris is so hugh I can barely keep my mouth closed. I have it it right now and it's holding up good, but it feels like the side of my lip is open slight enough for drool to ease out (gross) but it's not terrible. I'm surprised that the loose doesn't make me feel queezy or lightheaded like the portions do.

Loose usually hits more gradually than original portions which can be a plus with things like the Thunder and Oden lines of loose. Plus you can use less of the strong versions and really stretch a can out. That said a honking 5ml pris of Thunder will stand your hair on end. Way too big. I tried a 5ml for my very first loose effort with Roda Lackett. Big mistake. Good imitation of battery acid. Backed off to a .5ml pris using a 3ml syringe and instant perfection.

Funny you should say that, the stuff I tried was Roda Lackett. I didn't really keep it in long enough to get that effect, maybe 15-20 minutes max because the pris was just too big for me to tolerate it further. I also have Ettan, Goteborgs Prima Fint, and Goteland yellow, my favorite being tied between the yellow and the Ettan. Haven't tried the Prima Flint, but I hope I get better results than I did with their Rape white portion.

I haven't tried Los yet and I added 5 cans to the order I just made.. You're prob having better luck than I will lol.

I went to like every cvs and walgreens, as well as a bunch of off-the wall pharmasicsts today. Not one of them had a 3ml syringe, only 1ml and 5ml. I attempted to hand bake a pris today, and it held together nice and tight, but the second I put it in my mouth, it crumbled to pieces.

You can get by with a 5ml. Just take it one or two click at the most.
