The cigar shop by me sells General for about $5 each, they're going to order some more mini mint as well too because they were out last time I went in. In the past year or so I've noticed they're stocking quite a bit more of it, so I hope that's a good sign!

Last time I went in I asked them if they had any other brands of Snus, the guy pointed to the Camel Snus and I just laughed! LOL

I've been to a few shops that had General products (4 or 5), and they all seemed to have the same varieties (OP, WP and Wintergreen). If I could find a place that would stock some strong portions, I'd be pretty much set for a while. I guess in my weekend trip to my local shop, I'll ask the dude about that.

Like I said in the thread I started, the Tinderbox in Mobile has "the complete General line" except for los and the sterks. They said they were working on getting Onyx. These guys are getting it right from The Gernal Cigar Company. Not sure if using Northerner would be cheaper, but that's something rickcharles may want to look into.
They kept saying something about some "trade show" coming up soon showing off new stuff for the US. Maybe someone else can verify a smokelss tobacco trade show. I had never heard of such a thing beofore. But I will say this and I stand by it, I will gladly pay more for Swedish snus locally if I know it will be there for the foreseeable future instead of having to hoard it from the net. Especially with the rising shipping cost even within the US. Over the counter General Whites taste so so much better. Even if it does cost a little more.

The only info I could find:

                • Tobacco Trade Show
                • Swedish Match is involved
                • Sometime in 2011 in Vegas

Yep, they have them every year. The Tobacco Trade Expo. Last year it was in New Orleans and this year as well....I think. Last year SM North America was there along with Patrick Vogel from V2. All the other major tobacco manufacturers were there as well. It's kinda like the New Car shows you see in the winter only instead of new cars and concepts, it's new tobacco products and a peek at what the manufacturers have in store for coming products. Pretty interesting really. It's where I first saw the electronic cigar and pipe!

But they're probably stocking just what they think they can sell, so they need to learn that there's a market for the other products.
                        Langdell is right.

I just talked to the guy at the cigar shop that sells General in my area, and he told me he can order anything from the General line.

I asked the lady at the tobacco store if they could get General OP mini's. They store carries General products and even has a little neon General snus sign in their window. After a few weeks went by, she told me that they could not get mini's and their distributor didn't even know that General OP minis were available. So far, they have General OP, White Portions, General Mint Portions in mini and regular size and of course wintergreen (blech).

My local shop carries the same selection, and also cannot order any other General or SW products, much less any other swedish snus. But at least I can buy something locally what with all the PACT problems occurring with orders and such.

Still I would love to try some new flavors as I am particularly disgusted by most mint and wintergreen flavored tobaccos.

+1 - Licorice is ok now and then, the mint is fine once in a blue moon, the eucalyptus about every other blue moon but the wintergreen is just plain naaaaaaaasty! My hope is that they are just starting out in this country and more brands and types of snus will be available as we go along.

Swedish Match experiments with cultivation in different countries to achieve the best possible raw tobacco. If declared a good soil for tobacco, seeds are planted and every step in the development and the cultivation of the plant is carefully ...
