It just goes to show you can't judge one's reaction to
    snus on some manhood test,etc.

Me you can call a woose if you desire. I am a more of

Thanks for all your advice. I haven't smoked a cigarette
    in 25 days!! Woooo Hoooo!

Is it common to be a real asshole when switching
    from cigs to snus?

No, I've been nicer and more patient then normal. Pretty much right from the start. I also have been doing a bunch of stuff I never do - i.e. proactively doing yard projects, finishing my "honey-do" lists, taking a lunch break at work, etc.

He should test a couple times during and after a snus to see how he reacts to it.

I would think first thing in the morning would be a bad time to start a snus habit. I always smoked a cigarette (if I am being honest two) before I got out of bed in the morning and I couldn't imagine putting tobacco in my mouth first thing in the A.M. Now I wake up at 6:45 am put in a pris and hit the snooze button and wake up 15 minutes later fairly alert.

He doesn't believe this had any effect on his snus
experience but I thought I'd mention it in case anyone
          has any info.
I'm a Type 2 diabetic, and I know there are at least a couple more diabetic members here. I haven't noticed any changes in blood sugar due to snus. I think perhaps one of the others has, but as I recall, he's a brittle diabetic, which could account for the difference. If your friend's diabetes is well-managed, I wouldn't think it would be a factor. But then again, I'm not a doctor, so don't take my word for it.

Nicotine makes us release adrenaline afaik, which could have an effect on his blood sugar and diabetes.

To be honest, sometimes, especially if the snus is wet and I start juicing too much, I start choking and almost throw up. I almost threw up the first time I used Elyxr. I would imagine throwing up isn't uncommon when first trying snus but just tell your friend to keep at it, surely after a few more times it shouldn't happen. If it does I would probably stop snusing lol.

When I first started snus, they all made feel like hurlin'. I even cut the Camel snus' in half. I was totally not used to it.

Adrenaline speeds up metabolism, which would lower blood sugar. But I've never heard a single diabetic say any form of tobacco lowered their blood sugar, although a few say it raises it. Sorry, but the evidence casts doubt on the nicotine-adrenaline theory.

Well don't be too hard on him. As I said that is an old pic.
                        He is 60 now.

The first few days to a week I felt nauseous when I left a Stark in for awhile.

I seem more used to it now though sometimes I feel a bit sick in the gut.
Usually when I max out and leave an Extra Stark in over an hour.

                        It still beats smoking.

                          UPDATE:

I can report the my friend today received a can of General Mini Portion
that I sent him. Here is his account:

The 'minis' work fine. No nausea, no nothing unwanted. I've had one in
my mouth since about 4. It's 8 now, give or take. No urge for a
cigarette, no problem. This may be the ticket..... I thankee, sir.

Great to see that you solved the problem. I always dry my lip properly before using snus, before I take a portion. If I didn't, I would start semi-gulping, and feel like I'm going to puke. Nowadays, I'm used to it, so it's not a problem.

I have a Skruf ES portion in right now. I'm sucking a bit of the juice.
                              No prob.

41 days without a cig for me.

thanks to all here for your advice

Now who said I have only been here for 5 minutes and that I must be a troll?
41 days cig free is more than 5 minutes to me. I haven't been here for
months but long enough to know I'm not here to troll.

I said I was going to hang up politics on this forum. However sometimes
                              I can't resist.

What an odd Little thread this is...........

Full of helpful advice packaged in a shinny wrapping of insults........................which in turn are countered by gratefulness flavored with an underlying threat of machine gun retribution....................all of which eventually ends well to the satisfaction and joy of everyone.

Joseph am I beginning to detect a trend..........
When it's my time to go, I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like my uncle did....... Not screaming in terror like his passengers
