Hi all! I accidentally quit smoking cigarettes habitually on or around November 10, when I randomly decided to buy a can of Camel Robust. I'd been at it for 20 years, steady pack-a-day smoker. I've also used moist US Dip every once in a while, usually always Copenhagen. I smoke a pipe from time to time, and occasionally enjoy a cigar or two. I have wanted to quit smoking cigarettes for a few years, but I love tobacco, and have been torn - very torn...
Enter the Snus.
I honestly don't remember what day it was, but I quit - just like that. Somehow, I'd never heard of moist snuff, but from the first day, I realized how ideal and perfect it is for me. I waited for a package from Northerner for 1.5 months (I have been initiated), and am simply in heaven now. I love snus. It's perfect, delicious, and comes from the magical miracle land of miracles and magic. Which I now know is called "Sweden". Thank you Sweden - tusen tack!
All kidding aside, I've managed to smoke less than a pack of cigarettes since I quit, two months ago. Short list of Benefits:
Anyway, these are some of my observations and things I would want to share with any other new folks reading this. So far, I've been in love with all the loose stuff I ordered, though a sterk portion in the morning removes the itch I used to scratch with my morning cigarette. I adore the flavour/style of Ettan classic, love the ease of use of Oden's classic, and am gaga for Landstrom's loose. Really delicious, mild, roasted nut/coffee flavor that seems like what classic snus might have been like long ago. I'm the kind of person who likes to grind quality coffee to a dust, add boiling water, stir in a minute, and enjoy - so Landstrom's, and other earthy loose snuses, are right up my alley. I'm hoping to start growing a batch of tobacco this summer, and having a go at my own snus!
So, though I've said hello on another thread already, here's my formal "Hail!" - another delighted snus fan here!

All kidding aside, I've managed to smoke less than a pack of cigarettes since I quit, two months ago. Short list of Benefits:
- I can breathe again; I used to play woodwind instruments, and can do so again!
- I no longer have the eternal stress and anxiety of quitting habitual smoking; cigarettes are relegated to the cigar/pipe category - but my freakish desire for them is 100% gone.
- I can use snus portions at work discretely, in an environment where I used to get scolded for smoking (honestly!) No more driving in town nervous that a colleague would see me smoking...
- The cost difference is astounding
- The less obvious health benefits seem to go on and on and on; I've noticed minor chronic issues dissipating after many years, simply by not smoking.
- I'm discovering and enjoying a realm of tobacco that had somehow eluded me. I love Snus for it's simplicity and history - I can picture a fisherman in a storm in the North lands in 1822, fussing with a tin of snuff, getting splashed with salt water, and making history...
- I find it really easy and delicious to use loose snus, though it took a week or so of practice.
- Quitting habitual cigarette smoking was so easy by using snus that I can't even remember what day it happened - I wasn't trying to quit at the time; it truly was an accident! I had tried and failed to quit with patches/gum/USDip, several times over the past decade. Snus FTW!
- Excited about going from using a product which is so sketchy in it's chemical profile, and chemistry when taken in the body (cigarettes), to a product which is so pure it's regulated as a "foodstuff"!
