    Is all snus 'spitfree?'

I know, dumb question. But, snus is totally new to me. I have never even heard about it before I saw a Camel Snus display rack and gave it a try. Thanks for any input.

Yeah, absolutely. If you've not ventured beyond the Camel snus, mind you, you really need to try the real deal - Swedish snus is the only way to go. They have even just introduced two new flavours just for women :

Vertigo : A Snus for women

You could take a tin out in public, even in a fancy sort of environment, and not feel conspicuous. There are also a lot of other mini-format snuses on the market.

    Mini Snus

I might suggest Mocca or Catch for flavoured varieties, and Göteborgs Rapé or even General for more a traditional and subtle experience.

      Welcome to the forum, desirexe!

Swedish Snus is neither fire-cured nor fermented. Therefore the saliva is not nasty or unhealthy, like it is with many other sorts of smokeless tobacco.

      Cheers!

        Like chainsnuser said.

I quit cigarettes by using american dip (usually copenhagen). After using this for a few months I found this forum. I ordered some swedish snus (have never tried the camel stuff). After using Dip, I was amazed at how subtle and flavorful the snus was without needing to spit.

About a week after I got my first order of snus, I had a training class at work and left my snus at my desk. My coworker had a can of cope on him, so instead of getting up to get my snus, i took a pinch. By this point i had forgotten about the need to spit and just started swallowing it all. Lets put it this way, I was rather green in the face. I will never be left without my snus again!

          not all is spitless

I got a 24 can sampler pack and it includes Lucky Strike Brown Portions. They are like Copenhagen Pouches. I was spitting brown saliva within minutes. Not all snus is spitless. Some of it is just like Skoal and Copenhagen.

I use Lucky Strike without spitting. The key is to leave it alone. If you poke it and prod it with your tongue, it will start to run. When it starts to run, I'll take out the portion. But if you just leave it alone and let it do it's thing, you won't have to spit. It will release it's flavor at an easy pace and there will be no problem.

Comparing Lucky Strike to Cope is blasphemy. But I'll forgive you... this time.

Just to add to what SMC! said... Spit free doesn't necessarily mean juice free. You just won't get sick by swallowing it. I like my portions runny, you get tons of flavor that way, and I never feel ill from swallowing the juice.

                Skoal Juice

Well, I found that Skoal Peach juice was like having Peach Iced Tea! I was drinking that juice with no problem too. But if I dip up top, then there is not much saliva.
